Apparently, it won't matter since Cora is so good at reading pitchers or whatever Smoltz said during the broadcast last night.
I honestly put some stock into that and it somewhat underlies my reasoning to get a pitcher out of the game when the Red Sox hitters start spitting on pitcher's pitches and putting big swings on pitches in the zone. They've got something working in that dugout. We can't let them settle in and get comfortable.
Maybe. I honestly think it's garbage. Just don't think it's realistic to be so good at reading pitchers that you can jump on the starters at will across the WC, LDS, and LCS, of which all pitching staffs are in the top 5 in the AL, top 7 in the entire league.
I know my post is kind of sour grapes - I'm not accusing them of cheating, just amazed they've done it to some really good pitching staffs. They've done a really good job of forcing the pitchers into the zone. My point was I don't think it's Cora more than it is their hitters are actually taking good, patient ABs.
I agree that we can't let them settle in. ZG needs to brush the first batter off the plate tonight as he did to Soto in 2019.
