Current Astros: Altuve

All-time Astros: I have a soft spot for Lance Berkman, even if he wasn't the best.

Favorite regular season game: The game where Carlos Beltran left for the Mets and it was his first game back. The energy in the stadium was awe-inspiring for this teenager. I've never seen so many people united. I can't even remember if we won, but I'll never forget the crowd that game.

Favorite post season game: Only one I've attended was the World Series Game 4 in 2005. I did catch a batting practice ball from the White Sox. We lost but it was still a fun experience.

Current Astros: Altuve

All time Astros: It depends on the era. Cesar Cedeno/JRR, next era Ryan/Scott, next era Bags/Bidge, now Tuve?Springer

Favorite regular season game: Mine is one that sticks in my brain, but its not a favorite. I was at the game when Thon got hit. Absolutely sickening.

Favorite postseason game: 1981 Game 1 NLDS. Ryan beat LAD 3-1. GC, 2 hitter. He beat Fernando who went 8 IP. The game ended on a walk off 2 run shot by Ashby. The joint went bat **** nuts.

Ideas:

- Peter Solomon up
- odo added
- If Meyers can't go, Siri stays
- If Meyers can go, Siri is off
- Possibly Stubbs is off for another reliever like Taylor
- If you're looking for an out of left field idea, how about Hunter Brown coming up for his major league debut? #3 prospect, solid at AAA this year. Sox would have no scouting report on him.

Maybe against Boston, but we won't win the World Series without Lance.

OK, let's pass some time til Friday night.

1) Favorite Astro (current)

2) Favorite Astro (all-time if different from a current fave)

3) Best Astros' game you've ever been to in person (regular season)

4) Best Astros' game you've ever been to in person (playoffs, if applicable)

1. Kyle Tucker
2. Kevin Bass
3. Mike Scott took a no hitter 8.2 innings before giving up a hit. I was too little to remember it.
Found a link to the last inning of the game. I'll have to ask my dad where we were sitting to see if we were on any of the several crowd scans they did: Atlanta Braves vs Houston Astros (6-12-1988) "Mike Scott And His No-No Is A No-Go" - YouTube
4. G5 2017 WS

OMG I'm 95% sure I found my dad and I from that YouTube video I posted from the almost Scott no hitter in '88. Showed it do dad and he agrees.

It was '86 right?

Take away that last one and I am with you. I probably lean toward leaving Stubbs for now. ZG or Maton can get lefties out too.

ZG, Javier, etc are only able to go 40-50 pitches. Garcia hasn't been able to go deep into games in a while. Odo is not very stretched out. We'll need someone like Solomon to try to get us a start of more than just 2-3 innings.

It can be pieced together, but the offense & Framber(maybe Urquidy) are going to have to carry it.

My biggest concern is that the team panics. They can real sloppy real fast. If they start pressing, Dusty gets creative.

The bats and pitching can do it on paper.

Wow - not good at all on the McCullers news. He was pitching so well.

I agree with you, I highly doubt the last one would happen. It's just a crazy idea of calling up someone who is stretched out that might be a curveball to the Red Sox (kinda like Luis started against the Rays last year with little to no experience).

They have enough veteran leadership to avoid the panic.

This is the last of my worries. This team has constantly shown it doesn't get flustered in the playoffs from game to game AB to AB and even pitch to pitch. They're locked in laser focused.

Plus Correa will rally them. He'll want to win for his boy!

I just think finding quality pitching to cover those innings will be hard.

If the offense keeps playing at a high level we can 100% beat Boston

Honestly since Lance went game 4 in chicago, he was only going to probably start one game this series anyways (game 3 and potentially 7 if necessary)

World Series, different story but lets get past the ALCS first and see who we match up against. who knows, maybe the Braves pull the upset

1 and 2. Altuve

3. Tough one…I guess the Bregman 2-foot dribbler walk-off

4. Altuve shot of Chapman to send us to the WS
4. Honorable mention: Chris Burke walk-off

They've never seen his stuff. They don't have the same kind of tape and scouting report on him. All we need is maybe 4+ IP in game 4 to keep us in the game. Framber, Garcia, & Urquidy would be the guys asked to go twice. if needed.

That LMJ news sucks, but I'm going to wait for official confirmation from the club. Maybe they can get a game 4 or 5 start from him.

Unless they are on the 40-man roster or 60 day IL as of 11:59pm ET on August 31, they are not eligible for the postseason.

1. Altuve
2. Jose Cruz
3. Randy Johnson's first home start
4. Sadly, N/A. Although I did go to the psuedo-doubleheader with the Padres where the first game was actually the continuation of the game that was suspended when Dierker had his seizure.

Bonus: my dad went to the doubleheader against the Dodgers at Colt Stadium when about half the fans needed first aid.

We talked about this a couple times earlier in September, and I think we figured out that as long as you were on the minor league roster by end of August, you could be eligible. That's how Marwin is eligible. He wasn't put on the 40 man until a few days into September.
