Post-Arby's bubble gut is Jose Vizaino's on-base percentage. Probably what keeps you from wanting him in your lineup every day.

Joe Buck is like Nickelback or Arby's. None of them are bad. People only hate them because the Internet tells them to.
I'm a little late on this reply, but:

  • No one reasonable hates Arby's. It's top of it's class or close to it.
  • At their peak only hipsters hated Nickelback. They sold 50M albums and if you were of a certain age in the early 00s, you definitely turned "How You Remind Me" up and hammered out that intro drum fill while wearing bootcut jeans without boots and a pooka shell necklace. You may even have had frosted tips. Yeah they were ubiquitous and started cranking out similar-sounding songs and everyone got tired of them, but like Coldplay, Kings of Leon etc. they had their day in the sun and you liked it. My new suburban gym is packed full of olds and they very considerately play the 90s and 00s station for us (and therefore a lot of NB). It's been long enough since their prime that I hadn't consciously listened to Nickelback in over a decade. Despite their subpar lyrics and imagining the lead singer's frosted chia hair in my head, I have to admit that I found myself singing along in my head and liking it.
  • All that aside, I do agree that Joe Buck is a lot like Nickelback

I also got the Barney song stuck in my head once for a few months. Doesn't mean it's good. And Coldplay and KOL are actually all gifted musicians, big damn difference.
Even on an off day I don't want to derail the thread with Nickelback analysis, so this is my final comment on this very marginally worthy topic...

It's OK to think Nickelback is not good while still acknowledging that they sold 50M albums, which means that at least in the early 00s, your opinion was not shared by the masses. If you're looking at talent as musicians, you can make a strong argument that The Beatles weren't that great either.

Barney is a perfect example. Not any good? What are you comparing him to, Freddy Mercury?!?! It's not supposed to be good it's supposed to be catchy, so the fact that you got it stuck in you head means it's not only good but it's great. For 5 year-olds.

It's all a matter of perspective.

I hope you're right. I have a feeling he's going to labor through five and throw a lot of pitches. Hopefully our bats and bullpen show up again.

I think our starting pitching will determine the outcome of the series, and healthy Lance or not I think that includes ZG and Javier, who we are going to need some quality innings from.

Sure hope so but the Red Sox are the best hitting team against breaking balls. If Framber is on then we should be ok but if he's not it could be a short outing.

SIAP, but apparently the Giants were the original buzzer-users. This is all a joke. It's like pretending NFL players don't ALL use steroids & HGH and being outraged when someone gets popped. Even the "good guys" cheat. JJ Watt is roided out to the gills and Shohei is probably a cyborg.

Get over it.

As somebody who played D1 football and has numerous friends who played in the NFL, PED use isn't nearly as rampant as the general public thinks.

Guys really are that freakish of athletes compared to the average dude. Hell, the last dude on the roster of the worst FBS-level football team is going to blow away 99%+ of non-athletes in physical talent. I don't have personal knowledge on JJ Watt but he's been tested a million times and never once been popped. Plus, the fact his brothers are studs too points to good genetics and work ethic more than anything.

My family and probably our closest family friends are good examples.

Both my brother and I played college football, I was at an FBS program and him at an FCS. Our sister also swam in college, lettering four years at Cougar High. My brother's son is probably going to be an FBS-level football player. He made 4A all district last year as a sophomore. This year he starts both at MLB and on offense as their hybrid FB/TE/H-back role. My boys are younger but they have the evident athleticism already- I'm 6'3" and my oldest is supposed to end up 6'5" while my youngest will be 6'3"-6'4" and he's actually more naturally athletic and coordinated than his big brother. Both of them are big-framed but can really run and move.

Our good friends are similar- the dad is 6'10" and played basketball at TCU then transferred to A&M. Mama is 5'10". Their oldest is a 15-year old sophomore girl who is already 6'0" and barely hit puberty. She's a stud volleyball player who will probably play at A&M. Their middle child is another girl who just turned 12 and is 5'5" and on track to be as tall as her big sister and just as good at VB. Their youngest is a boy who is almost 8- he's going to be another Deuce Fatheree-type OT, 6'7" and look like Karl Malone playing OT.

But are they the best at hitting Framber's breaking balls? His curve is one of the best pitches in baseball. As long as he's in the zone enough, they aren't going to do much with it. It'll come down to the 2 seamer. His bread and butter is getting ground balls. Sox are one of the teams who hit the fewest GBs. That and walks will tell the story for him IMO.

Current Astro - Tucker

All-Time Astro - Cruz

Regular-season win: '05 in San Francisco, Clemens got the 'W' on a picture perfect Sunday afternoon

Playoff win: '98 NLDS, Billy Spiers with a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth. Ricky Gutierrez stole third off Trevor Hoffman and Spiers drove him in. Billy Wagner picked up the great blown save / win. Hoffman had 53 saves and a 1.48 ERA that season.
