Joe Buck gets a lot of hate but if you've ever heard him talk in an interview or podcast setting it's fantastic and I came away with a lot of respect for him.

One thing that he's said that struck me was

'Look I know I get a lot of flack for being one sided. I hear it constantly but it comes from both sides. So that goes to show you that the broadcasts are actually pretty even. People are gonna hear what they want'

He's very candid and I've come away with a new perspective on him.

If LMJ is out, bad news but if our offense keeps it up we should be able to win. Here's my rotation without Lance

Game 1: Framber
Game 2: Garcia
Game 3: Urquidy
Game 4: Greinke/opener

Hopefully, they both stay behind the door. This would be options 5 and 6 if our guys are healthy.

Joe Buck is like Nickelback or Arby's. None of them are bad. People only hate them because the Internet tells them to.

Nickelback is bad.

But who hates Arby's?

Luckily I am only seeing about three names from their 2018 lineup. Those guys seemed to do most of their damage with 2 outs and 2 strikes, and it wore away a pitching staff. Hopefully better this time, although Cora himself might have something to do with that approach. (And their sign stealing.)

Guys, need a little help. I'm trying to plan on going to one of the games in Boston but it's difficult to plan without knowing the game time.

Monday: game 3 is an NL travel day, so night game in Boston
Tuesday: Game 3 NLCS will be in Atlanta against Dodgers/Giants, Game 4 ALCS
Wednesday: Game 4 NLCS in Atlanta again, Game 5 ALCS

Is there a chance that Games 4 & 5 in Boston could be afternoon/late afternoon starts? I can't remember from previous LCS games and having trouble looking it up.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_American_League_Championship_Series - this is the ALCS schedule from 2019, you can see the game times. The only day game was game 3 and it started at 4PM local time in NY. The NL series was in the CST/EST time zones. I think it's a safe bet that any day games wouldn't start before 4 eastern.

Funny story. Walked into Arby's in CS once and the only other person in there was Jake Spavital.

Our game 4/5 times are 100% dependent on who wins tomorrow. If it's SF the NLCS games would be in Atlanta. If it's LA those games are in LA.

Ah, thought both SF & LA would have home field because of their record. But I guess ATL gets home field because they won the division

thinking about the 2015 draft 1st round...

#2 overall Alex Bregman
#5 overall Kyle Tucker

that may be greatest 1st round draft ever for an MLB organization

But in the World Series, it doesn't matter. Best record gets home field. How jacked up is that?

regarding the White Sox' payroll...

Keuchel, Lance Lynn, and Hendriks will combine for approx $50 MM in salary in 2022. The $18 MM for Keuchel will hurt.

no one on the current team makes over $20 MM per season, so Chicago could probably re-sign Rodon if they wanted to, but he has an extensive injury history.

only once started more than 24 games in 7 seasons...and that was way back in 2016

fun comparison...for the "all-time greatest second baseman" discussion:

Jose Altuve in 67 postseason games ---> .953 OPS

Joe Morgan in 50 postseason games ---> .671 OPS

surprisingly Joe did not do much at the plate during the Reds 75 & 76 WS runs

How about 2012?

#1 Carlos Correa
#41 Lance McCullers Jr (supplemental 1st)

My favorites

Schwarber over Yuli - Yuli had a great season where he won the batting title and played great defense but Schwarber has started the last 3 ALDS games and his iffy defense has been serviceable

Verdugo over Brantley - Just laughable all around

Let's compare WAR by position.

SP: HOU 4.8; BOS 3.6
RP: HOU (3.6); BOS 3.1
C: HOU (1.4); BOS (0.7)
1B: HOU 1.5; BOS (1.8)
2B: HOU 2.1; BOS 0.6
3B: HOU 0.7; BOS 1.0
SS: HOU 4.9; BOS 2.7
LF: HOU 1.4; BOS (0.5)
CF: HOU 1.1; BOS 0.8
RF: HOU 3.9; BOS 0.4
DH: HOU 1.0; BOS 1.0

TOTAL: HOU 16.3; BOS 9.6

HOU - 8
BOS - 4

Agree it's laughable but they did put Brantley over Verdugo.

Quote:

Alex Verdugo had a so-so second season in Boston overall. But he came through in the clutch quite a bit and has been locked in at precisely the right time, going 8-for-23 with a homer and two doubles in the postseason. If you want to side with him (and perhaps Schwarber, depending on the daily lineup) here, we won't fault you at all.

But Michael Brantley is one of the premier contact hitters of his era. The 34-year-old vied for the batting title this year with a .311 average, and he has hit safely in 15 consecutive postseason games -- the fifth-longest streak of all time.

Slight advantage: Astros
