What y'all's rotation?

1. Framber
2. Garcia
3. LMJ (if healthy) / Urquidy
4. Urquidy (if LMJ healthy) / Greinke
Repeat if needed

This way Garcia doesn't have to pitch at Fenway. If LMJ is healthy he'll get 5 days rest and be able to go game 7 with full rest.

The Red Sox are similar to the White Sox with the way they're so much better at home. It's key to protect home, take 1 minimum in Boston, then end it at home.

They don't have the pitching to play a 7 game series. I could see them sacrificing someone if we get ahead big in a game. However, I'm worried we don't either without LMJ. We're going to need innings from Greinke & Odo if that's the case.

Batting wise, they're hot. They're good too. They have a nice L/R split just like we do. But I'd still take our guys over theirs. We just need to stay hot. If we did it vs Lynn, Gio, & Rodon we sure al he'll be able to do it vs Evo, Sale, E-Rod.

Does Greinke do well at Fenway?

Who are we replacing to make room for Odorrizi?

Worst case, we would make room by leaving Lance off. Assuming he's good enough, then we're going to need to drop a position player. Ideally, Siri, but if Jake can't go then he's the most likely option.

As far as ZG at Fenway, I wouldn't put too much stock in how he's done in the past. He's just not the same guy anymore. He can't get righties out. His K% is almost as low as its ever been while his HR% is as high as its ever been. His Sept/Oct OPS was over 9000!... I mean .900.

If I had to make a guess, if Jake Meyers cant go because of his shoulder, he may be off the roster for the alcs.

Someone needs to tell Verducci he needs to lighten up.

Dude you're interviewing a manager from the dugout of a baseball game not the President from the rose garden at the White House.

Agreed. But did anyone think he seemed off this past game or was that just me? Looked like he was sick or something.

Either Meyers or Siri comes off the roster If LMJ doesn't. Odo is a definite add for length, and he would probably be the 4 starter if LMJ couldn't go rather than Grienke. Remember that Grienke is not at all stretched out. Also don't count out Peter Solomon, another guy who can go multiple innings and has been solid this year. The RS can mash, and in a long series against a team like this, you need length over leverage.

Man, I trust Greinke over Odorrizzi based on experience alone. Yes - Greinke has struggled but Odo hasn't been consistent and Zach has a hell of a lot more playoff experience. I trust him to be more prepared mentally that Odo.

Grienke will only go 1 or 2 innings. He's not a starter at this point. If he starts it's basically a bullpen day

Grienke is a spot starter (prob not needed), but probably more of a change of pace middle reliever who gives you once through the order (2- 3 innings). I don't like bringing him in with runners on for an inning or less. You can expect, at least, a fair amount of contact but hopefully no damage!

  • 5 ALDS repeats is impressive.
  • Looking at Meyers today.
  • Initial read on LMJ was that the forearm issue was very minor and just muscle tightness. Sort of tight, nothing more. Looking at him later today. Not sure if they'll need an MRI. Even if he needs an MRI it's not necessarily because the injury is bad. Put the mylanta down for now.
  • Roster is due on Friday so looking at everything over the next two days as the players run and throw.
  • No intent behind Abreu pitch and nothing but respect for TLR.
  • Team is good in the playoffs but no one knows why with certainty. Suspects it's talent but playoff schedule also puts spotlight on the top talent in your lineup. Depth gets you through 162 but October is more about the top of your talent pool.
  • How would Click tell a roster to tackle the stacked Stros lineup? Tampa had an army of arms that changed angles but threw gas. The grind of getting through the Stros lineup just wears down pitchers especially with the patient approach of our lineup. We have lots of different types of hitters - patient, ground ball, line drive, high contact - so there is no single game plan to attack us.
  • Wainwright's compliments on the Stros lineup was full of respect and appreciated.
  • Does the locker room use bulletin board material? No actual bulletin board but the guys do pay attention to what others are saying based on yesterday's post-game comments.
  • On the Red Sox, they are good team especially at the top of their talent pool. It will be a challenge. Good pitching. Cora has a good baseball mind. On the flight last night guys were saying they will treat Cora as the enemy for the series, regardless of whether he was in their wedding.

I agree, especially in pressure situations or on the road. I do like the idea of letting Garcia get games 2 and 6 so he's at home and not pitching at Fenway. He clearly was a little rattled pitching in Chicago.

1-Framber
2-Garcia
3-LMJ
4-Urquidy/Greinke
5-Framber
6-Garcia
7-LMJ

If McCullers is out, the pitching rotation is gonna get ugly.

Whenever I see Odorizzi scheduled to start a game, I know that at some point in that game we'll be down 5-0.

Joe Buck is typically OK calling the game action and being aware of historical significance of situations, which an old fart like me really enjoys, but his knob-slobbing of certain players makes him intolerable for long stretches of time. If he could have a threesome with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto on national TV, he'd sign up in a heartbeat.

Minor strain should be able to pitch through it. Will be interesting to how if impacts his breaking ball with the torque on the elbow. Might adjust his arm angle a bit as well. If ligament damage obviously could be a big deal. Will know more with complete assessment and imaging.

He won't pitch until game 3 so the extra day off for the travel day will be good for him. Hopefully he doesn't get pushed beyond game 3 though because I'd like him to be available for a potential game 7 if the series goes that far. Also pitching game 3 sets him up for game 1 of the WS if we beat Boston before game 7.
