Correa does not "want" to leave. He prefers to get paid a ton by the Astros. But it doesn't look like they are going to. that may end up being the right decision, even though I hate it right now. Do they buy out last years of Yordan and Tucker to get them here longer? (both FA in 2026).Quote:
Carlos has all but said he's leaving. It doesn't matter how much you offer a guy. if he wants to leave, he'll leave.

Well this could get fun. With a magic number of 6 and playing the A's in the next series there is a good chance of clinching in Oakland. That would be a kick in the junk. I wonder if Rat Fiers will be there?

If you are ever going to sign a ridiculous contract for one player this might be the time to do it. Correa is still young and in his prime. Keeping him keeps this era going.
What if we could get Uncle mike as the grizzled old vet bench pinch hit guy, maybe occasional OF, little more often in some DH roles, hone in his 1B ability a tad and roll like that. A guy that just flay hits isnt a bad thing to have off the bench for pinch hittingredline248 said:
Looking ahead, the Astros are counting on LMJ/Framber/LuACE to carry the rotation for a few years. Tucker/Yordan/Bregman are a solid one-third of a lineup to build around.
Then, you hope Altuve continues at a high clip, that Yuli's resurgence isn't short term, and that the young OFs are for real. Diaz's health, Brantley's age and catcher are all concerns.
If you're a betting man do you bet that all of those things hit? Or do you bet that Correa stays elite for more years in a long contract?
Just one way to look at it

And what, letting him go ends this era? You guys are being emotional and not logical.
A younger Carlos Beltran without the cheating allegations?Lonestar_Ag09 said:What if we could get Uncle mike as the grizzled old vet bench pinch hit guy, maybe occasional OF, little more often in some DH roles, hone in his 1B ability a tad and roll like that. My favorite moment from that post season, and maybe my favorite Astro moment.
This pretty much sums it up....the discussion should end beyond this! I can't blue star it enough.BMX Bandit said:Correa does not "want" to leave. He prefers to get paid a ton by the Astros. but any debating aside, anyone thinking Cramercrane will be anywhere close to being as hated as Bud if Correa leaves really has no idea what they are talking about. We say this a lot, but that really really might be the worst take ever on this board.

what if Correa cannot find a team to give him a 10-year contract?
in part because there are so many other options available at SS...Semien, Seager, Story, et al
that can be signed for only a 4 or 5-year commitment
