Frankly I'm shocked the runners advanced at all. Tye ump would have been calling out "infield fly infield fly!"

Wait the runners can advance on IF rule w/o tagging up?

I thought IFR was essentially dead ball. My mistake. It's just not a force play at that point?
I was wondering about that, too. Crowd noise and adrenaline just take over and you don't hear. Hell, Carlos was under no assumption of it being called either the way he chased it down and threw it back in.Mathguy64 said:

correct, batter is out, runners have option to advance, no obligationagdaddy04 said:redline248 said:nobody caught the ball, so why would they need to tag?agdaddy04 said:

didn't catch it, what did he almost say?Jackal99 said:
Blummer almost let a forbidden word slip out when he was talking about the flags behind home plate. Anybody else catch that? Glad he caught himself, even though I'm sure it was unintentional. He would've been canceled before the game is over.

The determination is if an infielder can make the catch without extraordinary effort. Carlos was camped under it. IFR batter out.redline248 said:I was wondering about that, too. ...but seriously, where does the infield end? If I'm a team and MLB follows through on the "must have feet in the dirt" nonsense, I'm arguing then why are you calling infield fly rule 20 feet behind the dirt?

Paredes enters and issues walk. He should just get it over with and issue an intentional one.
