Back in 2019, it was scary to think about the future of our rotation post 2021. Cole was gonna be gone after 2019 and JV/Greinke/LMJ all free agents after 2021. Now we've got LMJ locked up long term and four young guys blossoming into bonafide major league starters. It really can't be understated how huge this development is for our franchise. Frees up alot money to address bullpen, sign another outfielder and potentially retain Correa.

It keeps the window wide open for several more years.

What is crazy is this was all homegrown development. With the exception of LMJ, none of these guys were on the top of any prospect list. No one is some crazy high draft pick and major international signing. I also think we benefited greatly from the shortened season. I mentioned it at the time, but the guys were thrown into the deep and forced to sink or swim. Right now they're swimming their asses off.

Agree on all fronts. All of these guys are locked thru 2024 and in some cases longer than that.

I recall reading somewhere that Framber, Urquidy, LuAce and Javier were all signed later in their career (not as 16-17 year olds as is customary with the international players).

I believe this was a strategy that Luhnow and the scouting department employed because they could get them inexpensively and were able to get a better read on the player's development when somewhat older.

Probably the spot for Josh James when he comes off the 60 day.

Yeah, I know, I feel the same way, but I can't see them making a big call up between now and then. I don't think we see any other minor league additions to the 40 man until next year unless we trade someone off of there.

Resting a couple of starters to keep them fresh on getaway day after you won a 4 game series and you have to fly to Buffalo for a 6pm start against the Bluejays seems like the best time to do it.

If it were a rubber game, it's a different story.

Correa has a tight hammy according to Dusty. Wants him rested for tough upcoming road trip. I think it's smart to rest him when you can . He has not played a full season very many times in his career.

We just played a game in which the broadcast crew spent 2+ innings celebrating a guy who played in more than 2600 games in a row. I think our guys can handle a day game before getting on a plane.

Sure, but if analytics say your guys perform better during the season and reduces risk of injury from getting rest during the season, why would you want your guys playing 162?

My point was if you're going to give guys a rest, objectively, today is the best day to do it.
