Ohtani will get 1 more AB in the 9th inning if he can finish the bottom of the 8th. He's at 88 pitches so it will be close.

It's not that it's big league quality for both, it's that it's upper echelon of the big league for both. Definitely hasn't been a two way like him in my lifetime.
Not trying to take away from Ohtani at all because he is a once in a generation talent, but I think we would've seen at least a couple of more players like this in our lifetimes if guys were encouraged to pursue pitching and hitting concurrently.
That could be. But again, I don't think they're going to disincentivize any prospect with upper echelon abilities in both. Buster Posey may have been the most recent one I can think of that was close to that, but think he was always a better hitter than pitcher. I honestly can't tell if Ohtani is better at one or the other. Both are just incredible.
