One thing I really appreciated about JV was that he didn't try to get cute. He went after guys, and occasionally gave up solo shots but that mindset helped him get deeper into games. Yes his 97 mph fastball and elite stuff helped his cause. But still.

His 2 seamer does that but it's usually faster. Maybe you saw the change up.

Lance has to be near the bottom of starters in fewest fastballs thrown (%), right? Seems like he throws fewer than even ZG.

I really wish they would just let him play center. For whatever we might lose defensively, it would be such a better lineup with Aledmys in the outfield and Straw on the bench.
