For a long time I've thought of Larry Anderson as the answer to an Astros trivia question but while surfing the AM this afternoon I heard him being interviewed on the Hannity show. They were talking about the Bryce Harper/Didi Gregorious incident. Turns out he's been doing broadcast for the Phillies for 24 years now and he sounded great. Thought some of you might be interested.

In other news the A's and Fiers are down to Baltimore 3-1 in the 7th.

My problem with that and while it seems small it causes big issues:

If he plays regularly in LF we then have to have Robel in the lineup routinely as the utility guy.

There's more creative ways to use Diaz than to just stick him in LF. He could play LF a couple days a week, INF utility a couple days a week, late inning PH a couple days a week. That's how we used Marwin.

Exactly. Until we just made him pretty much the everyday LF. Diaz looks sharp. He needs more ABs. I like the way you think.

Take out the sick start and Lance's ERA drops to 1.17 and his avg IP per start is 5.75. Not too shabby.

Lance always seems to need 1 start removed from his numbers for him to have an elite stat line. He would make a lot of money on his next contract if he could eliminate those blow up games each year

And I appreciate your astute baseball observations. That's part of the reason we're best friends.

If playoff started tomorrow, I think we'd almost certainly roll with Diaz in LF. But I also get the need to capitalize on Diaz's versality around the diamond over the 162 and desire to make sure Straw gets a proper-sized opportunity in CF before we consider pulling the plug on him.
