Yep. But considering this season has more of a "some baseball is better than good baseball" feel to it, it probably doesn't really matter if some games turn into freebies. Probably why they've expanded playoffs so much, including multiple teams per division. It can help offset things like this and minimize teams getting screwed too badly.

The expanded playoffs make more and more sense the more I think about it.

This is the most publicity the Marlins have gotten since Sheffield played for them.

As long as these positive results don't stack, they might be ok. But if they get two or three on the same (or consecutive) day(s) and are forced to trace backwards... a league wide delay seems possible.

Next couple of days are important.

The ESPN article seemed to imply that had this happened prior to the Marlins outbreak, it would not have led to a postponement.

That's a bit worrisome from the standpoint that it means MLB isn't going by the protocols that they created for this whole thing, which means as a previous poster said a few waves of bad news might quickly have them abandoning their own playbook.

I think seeing 18 traveling party members on a team test positive would have anyone questioning their protocols. It getting out of hand with one team so quickly is definitely going to drive some reconsideration

It was every two days during the summer camp. I anticipate it's the same now.

Aside from one team... they've done a good job of maintaining it.

They have a taxi squad for this exact reason... or at least they said that was the reason

I completely agree. And quite frankly, stuff like this has implications outside of baseball. You don't think college football, who can't realistically do the bubble thing, isn't watching this idiocy?

And people thought I was nuts for suggesting that teams with too many positives be forced to forfeit.

These guys aren't catching it on the team plane or in the hotel. They are being irresponsible.

They can eventually keep playing, but there should be a overall team penalty for things like this. Like if they have more than x number of forfeits due to having a team of dumbasses then they can't qualify for the postseason.

The players should have to forfeit their salary and the club should be fined for being irresponsible.
