Yordan to have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear. I had this surgery in 1983 and was in a cast for 6 weeks. I'm sure today's procedures are less invasive and he'll be back as strong as ever but not in this shortened season.

Mathguy, I had the same injury and they had to operate to even find it but MRIs we're not readily available in '73.
Listening to 790 and Clanton sticking up for his boy Chandler saying all this talk about JV coming back is a dog and pony show and it ain't happening because if Chandler tweets something like that it's true. Chandler just doesn't tweet stuff like that just for the attention.

Here what I found on the surgery recovery time
So we should have identified this in spring training and our best hitter would be available.
It all depends on the severity of the tear. I had a partially torn patellar tendon that was treated with a PRP injection and 3 months of rehab. Granted, I was only doing rehab for that long because I could only do two days a week. These guys could be rehabbing everyday and cut it down to 6 weeks. But again all comes down to the severity of the tear.
The repair of a partial tear of the patellar tendon won't be that invasive. It won't be a scope and he'll miss the rest of the season but this isn't a chronic thing. This is generally due to a torque injury. If it wasn't a shortened season he'd be out about 3 months.
If it were a total tear he wouldn't be able to walk.

Didn't he have issues with both knees last year. I'm not so sure this "fixes" the problem.
