It's truly asinine.

It would be very simple to spread 3-5K fans out safely. You have 3 decks, multiple sections that can be easily roped off, Crawford boxes, club levels, diamond club etc. you could funnel people in and out of entrances with no problem.

And even just 5K fans would make a huge difference in atmosphere.

1. mlbpa would whine about it,, a big reason for the really short season is so the owners lose less money. players would file a grievance about it saying "we should have played more games, pay us more money"

2. who gets to go? astros averaged 35k fans a game last few years. lots of upset fans

Agreed on mlbpa crying but we are probably going to strike next year regardless so who cares. Secondly they might whine but after this first big dose of how weird and lethargic things are without anyone cheering I bet they might change their tune pretty quickly.

On point 2 - season ticket holders get first right or refusal to go. After that lottery system but we know season ticket holders would gobble those up. People will complain no fair shot but I think everyone would agree we need at least some fans in the stands

And no I don't think it will happen I'm just saying it's very easy and doable
