It's truly asinine.

It would be very simple to spread 3-5K fans out safely. You have 3 decks, multiple sections that can be easily roped off, Crawford boxes, club levels, diamond club etc. you could funnel people in and out of entrances with no problem.

And even just 5K fans would make a huge difference in atmosphere.

1. mlbpa would whine about it,, a big reason for the really short season is so the owners lose less money. players would file a grievance about it saying "we should have played more games, pay us more money"

2. who gets to go? astros averaged 35k fans a game last few years. lots of upset fans

NY and Cali have already said they will not have fans at any pro sporting event. I can't see a team being allowed to have any fans given that. It would be construed as an advantage.
