Came here to post this, its super interesting. The guy on Reddit who compiled the data must have sifted through hours of footage to do this.

This is my favorite here-
You could spin that to mean he was likely using a buzzer like the he was accused, or conversely, could use that data to claim he was not as involved in the cheating.

Yea, he had to have gone through hours and hours of footage.
Wonder if the Twins could sue Marwin Gonzalez for about $7 million.
I tried listening to a few of his audio files and I could not for the life of me hear trash can banging.
What he shows is interesting:
1. majority of bangs are off speed, but NOT all off speed resulted in a bang during an at bat. Assume that means they couldn't get the sign - which leaves the batter really screwed - he thinks no bang = fastball, when its actually off speed.
2. Some bangs for fast balls - assume they screwed up the sign steal or the other team changed the signs.
3. Altuve was obviously not a fan. Tony Kemp said no thanks
4. Marwin was a big fan - no surprise
5. Would like to see the percentage hits of at bats where there was at least one bang during the at bat or first pitch was fast ball and the batter either got a hit or out. I'm going to bet it didn't improve the batters average.

Your first point has always been the main concern for effectiveness to me
They have about 1 second to decipher and bang before the pitch is delivered
Unless their video feed can see 5 seconds ahead of present time, in which case we have a much more interesting paradox

He must have that data right? Maybe the analysis isn't don't yet.
I assure you though that other major league clubs have already written algorithms to do this same job and have squeezed ever last bit of data out...

Not sure why you'd want the numbers to get worse if youre an Astros fan.

If you click on the individual games, you can see if the can was hit, and what pitch was actually thrown. I clicked on 1 or 2 games, probably 30 - 40 pitches. In that sample, the drum was 100% accurate predicting something offspeed.MAROON said:where do you get this success rate figure?Quote:

The Astros broke the rules and were punished. I will absolutely continue to defend them. I won't defend lazy narratives though.

The fact that their cheating had a direct impact on the pitchers they faced is not a narrative.
It did not have a direct causal impact on Bolsinger never pitching in the bigs again, as implied by the journalists who have piled on that idea originally spouted by Mike Clevinger while he was getting a tattoo. That narrative is very lazy.
I will concede, however, that on the very long list of reasons why Bolsinger didn't make it as a big league pitcher, that outing in Houston was probably on the list.
