We hire B.J. Finch. Spent last season managing in the southwestern Mexican league with the Baja Bandidos. He was instrumental in getting the league back on track after the churro vendors went on strike and the players wouldn't cross the picket line. It started getting violent and thats when Finch was brought in. His experience with the fruit pickers unions helped him broker a deal to save the season.

I would take Gibbons over several of the candidates that have shown up on lists. He would definitely please the crowd that wants to see our manager get tossed from more games.

This whole thing is blowing up right now. So many other teams are going to be implicated. If MLB doesn't investigate all these claims that are now coming out and only impose harsh punishments on the Astros, that's going to be completely ****ed up.

Because teams don't just win 107 with ease. Our rotation won't be as good. Our bullpen won't be as good. We have turnover in management. We don't know how healthy or unhealthy we will be.

Well 107 would be nice, but I was simply expecting better than 97
If it's obvious to you then go make some money.
Can't remember my exact number, but I think any total at 94 or over would be an achievement for the team as it's currently built.
97 will win the AL West. We good.

Crane is probably going through the PR stuff to make it seem like they're exploring all options when he already knows who he's hiring.
The sheer fact that they are interviewing Showalter tells me that this ship is a rudderless mess. A very hot mess.

Glass half full take: Crane has to do his due diligence to give the appearance that he's taking this seriously and exploring all candidates. If he just announces the next day that Espada is taking over, we would be given flack for sure.
Exactly. All PR. People forget that Crane started a business with a loan from his sister, and a partner who shut down his failing pizza restaurant and showed up with a truck and trailer one day, and became a billionaire (I worked for his old company for 8 years with the first 3 being while he still owned it). He also bought the team and brought in the people who built it to what it is today. He's not going to forget everything and just hire some chump.

Jim is a smart guy. I'm certain he is 100% sold on the analytics methods. That's what turned his team around and that's what Luhnow sold him on.

What aggravates me is that we got in trouble because Mike Fiers brought this stuff to light and people chased it. Now Logan Morrison, another active player, is saying other teams including the Dodgers were/are doing it, but we hear no mention of them being investigated. Same thing goes with MLB Network saying the Astros new of or provided evidence that several other teams were doing the same thing.AggiEE said:

I'm starting to wonder if Crane wants an experienced, no-nonsense guy as our manager to deal with all the attention and scrutiny we're going to get this year and help deflect some of it from the players.
