Hopefully those GP totals continue when we move to that playground surface the organization picked out.
You can't keep using age as an excuse. I don't recall Elvis making a lot of boneheaded plays in his first few years and he played a similar position to odor, played on a team with higher expectations, and was just as young if not younger than odor when he came up.DallasAg 94 said:
The point of Santana over Odor was that Odor carries more $$$ and at $236M for 2019, the BoSox are probably not interested in putting more money on the IF, when their SP has been terrible.
Odor is streaky, but nobody I've heard who has met him, has ever claimed he had a low Baseball-IQ. Quite the contrary. Everything I've heard is that he take in everything he can. Sure, he has a lapse, loses focus... but he is 25.
Which leads to another myth. Odor is often injured.
He has the following GP: 114, 120, 150, 162, 129, 12.
He averaged 147 GP the past 3 seasons, missing 15 games/season.
In his 1st season (114 GP), he was called up (at age 20) and made his debut on May 8. That was game #35 of the season, so he missed 34. That means he missed 14 Games after making his debut.
So, since being called up... in his 5 seasons, he has missed an average of just a little over 20 Games (14, 42, 12, 0, 33). That's 1 DL15/yr. And we know of those 5 seasons, he didn't miss enough games in 3 of those, to be on the DL, at all.
Sure I can. If you are comparing him to players who are in the minors, while Odor has been in MLB... sure I can.Grapesoda2525 said:

The guy stinks. When he's not giving up home runs, he's walking almost everyone.DannyDuberstein said:
LOL at Smyly. I think it's time to stick a fork in this experiment, at least for now. Go see if he can find it in AAA. He's gonna have about 13 innings across 4 starts.

These JD pitching experiments are pure basura!
TMAC: Don't lose sight of how we ended up with Smyly. ChiCubs needed to dump salary to pick up the option on Hamels. The $6M buyout for Hamels was agreed to be paid for by the Rangers, if the Cubs didn't pick up his option. Smyly carries a $7M cost to the Rangers for 2019. So, essentially, they got Smyly for $1M for the season. Not a terrible expense. Once he gets past the 1st, he seems to settle in, but his PC gets so high, he doesn't get far into the game. He might ought to have an "opener" start the game, and let him spend the 1st IP throwing in the BP and come in in the 2nd.DannyDuberstein said:Minor was an experiment. So was a guy like Cashner. They can work, but this one definitely needs some seasoning in Nashville or somethingTMACsDaMan said:

This constant walk down memory lane is getting pretty old.DannyDuberstein said:
This Schieffer visit is depressing me. This is such a great park.
Front office would have to be filled with total idiots to get rid of Santana with the way he's been playing. A competent team would have to find a spot for him.Doorbell said:
I don't care when Odor is healthy, I'd love to see Santana continue to find his name in the lineup everyday until his production drops. Short sample so far, but he has been fantastic.
