Arenado's OPS is 200 points higher at home. That's pretty damn significant and is right there with Charlie Blackmon. While you can't ignore their home stats, you can definitely consider them inflated.

And that's what OPS+ and wRC+ are for. Is Arenado a top-3 player right now? I don't think so. Is he in the top 10? Yeah, probably.

You're just upset that doesn't work for you.
It doesn't seem like a 10 year/$300 million deal for Machado lines up very well with the MLBPA carefully constructed narrative over the last few months. It's a great deal for him and he probably could have signed it in December. The last few months have just been smoke and mirrors posturing for the upcoming CBA fight.
I honestly cannot figure out how Machado landed a contract like that. He's not a top 10 player in baseball

I know. But all that talent is still down on the farm.
Meaning it's not like they're rebuilding and he's the last piece of the puzzle to make them a contender. I still think they're a ways off.
Still seems a bit early for them to be spending that kind of money on a FA. Especially one who's not worth it.

He can play SS
He's a good hitter (top 15-20)
He hit the market at 26
That is why it makes so much sense to do what we did with Altuve. He's locked up through his prime. We help him out by basically letting him out of his under market deal. We still get him cheaper than what he's get on the open market (26M vs 30M per).
It comes with an opt out after 5 years. I'm assuming he's thinking it's more lucrative for him then?
