Did anyone see the story about the Washington Nats player called out at 2nd base?
He was on first, 3-2 count he took off with the pitch. The catcher threw down, he was initially safe but came off the bag and was called out. But it was ball 4 so they awarded him the base. The other team complained the umps huddled and than reviewed and called him out. The reasoning was he gets awarded second but once he came off the bag its a live play. This can't possibly be the rule can it? I assume this would have also happened before? Why is it not a dead ball after ball 4?
