Very curious about Washington's strategy.

Yes, they're only 5.5 out of the playoffs, but they are under .500. Doubt they're going far if they make the playoffs. Why not get a very good deal right now in exchange for Bryce Harper rather than watch him walk away in free agency this winter?

as a Pirates fan I can't believe I'm actually getting to participate in this discussion, and not from a BOHICA standpoint.

Kela & Chris Archer. Also will get 3 more years of Archer for a total of $24M.

Not a bad couple days of work.

That's a really solid day's work. Archer is one of those guys they've dangled for so long, I'm surprised they actually traded.
