Can't we find the fans and interview them? I would love to hear their view. If you noticed, they didn't move their hands, betts jumped and ran into them.
I would hope not. He seemed to be pressing for most of his at bats.saltydog13 said:
Does Bregman stay leadoff after 0-5 last night?
It's been proven this season that MLB replay doesn't require "irrefutable" evidence to overturn a call (see Astros/A's call at home plate). MLB claims that replay is there to "get the call right". The replay shows no evidence of a fan leaning into the field of play, and a ball that clearly is going out of the ballpark.dermdoc said:
I think it would have been overturned if the security guard had not blocked the one camera angle that would show whether Betts was going straight up or out of the field of play. And no way West could see it from shallow right field.
Major props to the Houston Chronicle, who not only interviewed the fan, but had the story up by like the end of the third inning. Absolute hustle by the Chronicle.jakeaggie84 said:

"I didn't reach over the wall; I was on this side of the line," Caldwell said. "I don't understand what happened. I know the rules, and I didn't reach over the line."
Rule 3.16 states that: "No interference shall be allowed when a fielder reaches over a fence" unless "it is clearly intentional." West says that rule isn't applicable, because - in his view - Betts didn't reach into the stands.
"I think you know what I think of Joe West right about now," Caldwell said.

We're not making it easy on ourselves, but Price on short rest vs JV in Houston should be a very very winnable game. Add in the fact their closer is used up and wearing thin in the bullpen overall. Then we go back to Boston and Cole gets a chance at redemption. I think we easily push for game 6 and have a very solid shot at pushing for game 7. Get to 7 and all bets are off.
100% this.dermdoc said:

But we've already won 4 in a row this postseason. Boston just won 3 in a row vs us. NY did it to us last year. It's not probable, but it's really much that much of a stretch either.k20dub said:Farmer1906 said:

Thinking about winning 3 in a row feels impossible but when broken down like this, you definitely feel better. If that 2015 Rockets team can come back from down 3-1 then this Astros team sure as hell can.
I'm in that boat. I didn't get to sleep until 2. I'm can't pull that kind of late night back to back. I need to unload my tickets and I'm pretty sure I'm not making my money back.Harry Dunne said:
All the prices are going to fall, a lot of us are tired and pissed off. Not to mention the folks that got to bed at 1:30 after going to the game.
On the other hand it's a great chance to get a more reasonable price for tickets to the beginning of a great comeback.
Nope, apparently you're supposed to stand there and get hit in the face, chest or nuts with the ball.CJS4715 said:
Not a Astros fan, but if I am a fan in that spot, I'm not just leaving it alone. If a ball if flying at me and has crossed the wall, I'm going to try to catch it for self-preservation at least.

I just haven't seen it anywhere, but did the fan get tossed?
I am assuming yes since the Chron put out an article so fast.
