Eh.

BABIPed to death doesn't signify out matched.

Severino strikes out lots of folks all the time.

Ya pitch #1 was unhittable, #2 was a questionable strike and #3 was 102mph. Not much shame in that at bat

It's called bringing in a true closer. Something Houston does not have.

That's two series we should have won against probable post season match ups. Anxious to face Boston.

Can't expect any human to hit a 102mph fastball.

How about Max Stassi? He continues to impress me, both at the plate and behind.

At what point do we need to start being concerned about Correa? He seems like he is mired in a pretty big funk at the plate.

Astros have had issues with Severino. So, this game isn't a big surprise.

Stassi has been impressive. He's a must-start against LHP.

This thread has too many cliff jumpers. Settle down. The Astros are just having some adversity. Remember, Reddick and McCann are out.

We are also just played two playoff teams on the road. The Astros ended up 3-4 but could have easily been 5-2.

It's still early and we are still leasing the division. No need for panic.

Two bad innings from the BP from being 5-2

Not as bad as some may portray.

Anyone else find it ironic that the overall group think here recently has been to ignore saves and not have a dedicated closer in that set role, but now it seems we all want one and think this team needs one?

Regarding prospects that hit two HRs tonight, Taylor Jones hit two more for CC. After being awarded the Astros' minor league hitter of the month for April, he's been even better in May. I'm starting to think this kid has figured something out. He's not on any top prospect lists, but at 6'7, he's an intriguing prospect. It'll be interesting to see how he does the rest of the year.

We'd love to have one, as would 27 other teams. But closers don't grow on trees, hence only 2 teams have legit consistent ones, and even they blow postseason playoff games to the astros

This is a bad sequence for Guduan... looks like the Astros bullpen issues have migrated to Fresno now.

0.1 IP, 3H, 4ER, 1BB, 2HR

AL West Notes: Verlander, Colome, Mariners, Lincecum
By Steve Adams | May 30, 2018 at 10:02pm CDT

In a candid interview with MLB.com's Jon Morosi, Justin Verlander reveals that he thought his career was in jeopardy back in 2014 when he exited a start in Pittsburgh after one inning. His fastball clocked in the mid-80s that day, and as Verlander recalls, he "sat down and lost it" in the tunnel to the visitor's clubhouse. His arm was in enough pain that an MRI would reveal he required shoulder surgery. Instead, however, Verlander eventually came to realize that failure to fully rehabilitate from offseason hernia/core muscle surgery had lingering effects throughout his body. Now healthy and enjoying the best season of his career, the Astros' co-ace tells Morosi that he hopes to play for another decade. "In my head, right now, I'm thinking 45," said Verlander when asked how long he wants to continue pitching. "I don't know if that's realistic. I'm going to go as long as I can, until something changes."
Wonder if JV would resign here if he is still pitching lights out after next year...

I think it's two different camps, but only one is particularly vocal at a time depending on how the bullpen looks.

Going into this stretch of Cle/SF/Cle/NY/Bos I think the consensus was .500 was a good place to be. It could have been an awesome stretch if we closed out the 2 games, but I am satisfied going into the BOS series having made it through the gauntlet at 7-5.

Hitting has been acceptable during this stretch, some slumps and some surges, but the runs have been there.

SP has been insane as always

BP needs some addressing. I still trust most of them, the sum has been better than the parts for the majority of the season. Strom/White will get the BP heads right and hopefully they can get a little rest.
