Just a bad sports day

The question now is do we bring up young guns (I think philosophically they may be opposed to that) or just wait until trade deadline? Are any of our guys tradeable? Because even if you go the young guy route you need to make room for them?

The offense is crap right now but I'm not sure any offense would fair much better against Severino. He was just on.

Not a lot of hittable pitches and zero mistakes.

It's frustrating though and I have this gut feeling that the pitching staff won't or can't continue to pitch with such a microscopic margin of error.

Keuchel is flat out bad right now. And so are our bats. Better figure it out in a hurry or we gonna be having to dig ourselves out of a hole to get back to the playoffs before we know it. We are sucking against the better teams on the schedule.

23 straight innings without a run. At home. Awful.

The trade deadline is 3 months away. Why would the Astros stick with this exact same roster that long?

Someone commented last night that Giles might not recover from that game, and I'm afraid that may be right. That video of him punching himself was played all over the world today. That had to be humiliating.

In middle of the World Series last year Hinch announced that he had a meeting with Giles after his game 4 meltdown and basically said he wouldn't be available for the rest of the series. He had to finish the series without a closer because Giles had lost confidence in himself. We all hoped he had it back after Monday, but now no matter what he does from now on we'll have to wonder what will happen the next time, and so will he.

The bats will come around, but we sure need at least one more stick in the lineup. Beltran would look pretty good batting no. 8 right now wouldn't he?

I don't know about that. Hitting is contagious and when so many struggle its going to be hard to catch fire.

We need to bring up guys from AAA to shake this team up. Tucker, Kemp, etc. I would rather watch them struggle and get experience than the **** Marwin, Gattis, Marisnick, and Fisher bring to the plate night after night.

He gave up three in 7. That's not a terrible outing. The two homers weren't bombs. Decent pitches that just got punched out barely.

Bats going silent against good teams is concerning. Regardless of Keuchel's struggles we've had Cole and Verlander get no decisions on monster starts. That bothers me. Verlander with 14 k's most recently. Bats can light it up against lesser teams, so what, they need to be able to win against the best or this season won't be quite as long as we'd like.
