Rangers claimed LHP Zac Curtis off waivers from the Phillies and optioned him to Triple-A Round Rock.

Curtis is joining his fourth organization since 2016. The reliever has a 3.73 ERA and a 26/26 K/BB ratio in 31 1/3 innings as a major leaguer the last three years. The Rangers will surely give him a spot in their pen at some point in the next few weeks. Aug 7 - 2:49 PM

You have to wonder if JD is absolutely desperate to find something of value... or he is just completely thorough in his due diligence.

I think he's doing what most GM's should do in lost seasons - audition for roster deficiencies. You aren't making a trade for any legitimate starter right now, and there's nobody ready to take the step up from the farm -- so play the waiver wire game and see if you can't find a valuable piece.

Hutchison was a retread, but why not give him a shot? I'd much prefer watching guys that might help the future club than the old days of watching 40-year old Andres Gallaraga and Sammy Sosa get at-bats in seasons where they were unlikely to produce and even if they did they'd have little trade value.

Um no, A sac fly is only awarded if a base runner scores, not if the the fly ball just results in a base runner advancing 90 ft.

Yes. There was a brief period in the 1980's or there about when sac flies were credited for moving runners from 2nd to 3rd.

You can sacrifice bunt to intentionally give yourself up to advance a base runner or sacrifice fly to score a man from third. Those are the only two sacrifices that don't count as an at bat.

A fly ball that advances a runner from 2nd to 3rd is not a sacrifice.

A ground out that scores a man from third is not a sacrifice but you do get an RBI.

Update on the Rangers AAA situation. Will be moving from Round Rock to SA most likely. Apparently they will be playing in the AA stadium in SA for the time being.

Day game today for those who forgot.

The difference between a tanked season and a ho-hum season? About 4 spots, so far.

The Rangers if playing a .500 season would currently be maybe 6 spots higher.

Right now, they'd likely get the 8th pick. At .500, likely be around 14.

That should tell you how bad the Astros had to tank, in order to reach 100 Losses for 3 straight years. 106, 107 and 111 Losses. And a 92 Loss season.

The Rangers are on pace for a 92 Loss season.

Speaks volumes at what the Astros did. Anyone who wants to tout the greatness of Nolan's role in the Astros success should note what was done.
