Meh. I'm pretty burned on him at this point when Elvis comes back.
Was at the game tonight and decided to look it up after his dead center bomb:thirty-two said:

Yes, the proper way to evaluate players is actually watching the games like you did.gigem1223 said:txjortsagent said:

Odd timing for this post considering he's been pretty hot of late. The few at bats I saw looked good and not like an overmatched 8th grader.
Face it he's not popular anymore.gigem1223 said:txjortsagent said:

Another dumb question for someone who knows more than me.
When they're shifting Gallo so hard, why in the world can't he drop the bat head out there and send it toward third? Only the pitcher would have a chance at it, and if the ball passed the bag at third, he could end up on second.
I'm sure it's been discussed, but it drives me insane.

Yep. He's been pretty good in clutch situations at least at the plate and he has for sure bailed Profar out a few times this year with great off-balance picks at 1B.Rossko said:Was at the game tonight and decided to look it up after his dead center bomb:thirty-two said:

46 - Career games vs Rangers
21 - Career HR vs Rangers
On a better note, Condor looks like a cornerstone 1B to me. His avgerage will get better as he gains experience and his 1B catch radius has to be top 3 in the MLB.
If it was easy to hit away from the shift against Major League pitching then no team would shift. Teams shift so heavy against Gallo because they would much rather he try to push a bunt down the 3B line or try to poke one into LF than swing for the fences. He tried that for a bit earlier in the season after the Astros put their mega-shift on him and it seemed like it screwed with his swing/approach/confidence for a good month after.txjortsagent said:

I didn't realize this was a popularity contest we were talking about here? This board's extreme swings of opinions on Odor is funny though. Still remember the Odor> Altuve days. Those were fun.
Personally I think we need to let him play it out this year. Maybe he's coming out of his funk? Maybe he's not? But as mentioned before, there's millions of reasons why he needs to stay up. We're bottom feeders either way.

For me, Profar is finally starting to do the things we expected of him. There is no way I take him off the field or out of the lineupAggieDPT said:gigem1223 said:Grapesoda2525 said:Face it he's not popular anymore.gigem1223 said:txjortsagent said:

The problem is there's going to be too many players when Elvis comes back. You can't send Profar down. Do you move Beltre to just DH? Then what happens with Choo? Either someone needs to get hurt or be traded for it to work. Odor is the weakest of all the candidates right now.

JD has put an emphasis on developing young players for this season. Don't see any way Profar is sent down when he's just now showing what he can do with consistent playing time. It's a tough situation.
I see them screwing Profar over again and having him play a different position every day and others rotating days off
That answers that...DannyDuberstein said:

I've been as critical as any, of JD. Not terrible to extend him, as he has certainly put some skins on the wall. I had recently questioned the Owners direction and whether they were going to dump him... and that has been answered.
I'm curious about the players we've drafted. It won't take much to get this team winning, the question is can he pull the right strings.
Some of these young guys are exciting (IKF, Mazara, Guzman, Gallo) and we have some pieces to infuse additional talent (Hamels, Profar, Beltre).
Many on here had written off Andrus. Then wrote off Choo. And now Odor. I still contend, if Odor is slumpimg after the big contract and gets his head out in 2019 or 2020... we could end up with a SS, 2B and 3B with some of the gaudiest Offensive numbers All-Time. Beltre is like Top 2 or 3 in almost every stat for a player while playing 3B. Andrus and Odor have a lot of GP, for the age. Longevity like Beltre will be fun to watch.
