Choooo!! With the 2 run homer.
They are probably both significantly unlikely to happen, just what I would like to see. Mazara probably has the most value to actually get something worthwhile back. I would rather deal Mazara early than find out he is a career .260 guy with no position and be stuck with multiple guys who can't go 1st to 3rd on a base hit to right.gigem1223 said:
So you have us trading Mazara and batting him 7th? Not sure which one is more unrealistic.
I just don't buy the hype on Mazara and wouldn't consider him one of the best bats. He's working with a career .324 OBP so far and I think Guzman is similar but a bit faster and more athletic which is why I put him 5. I hope Mazara makes big improvements, but if I'm reshaping the lineup, I'm going for versatile athletes and he gets the biggest return on a trade.gigem1223 said:
Fair enough. Still curious as to why you'd stick one of your best bats in the 7 hole?
Any chance you know where to get an SMU one? My coworker has been looking for one for a while.AccidentProne said:
I have two extra A&M hats from the University Days last season. First two to PM me can have them

Any season. Just needs the Pony logo.AccidentProne said:
From last season?
That tweet surprises me since the sabermetric crowd really tends to devalue RBIs like they do with Wins.bigcat22 said:
Bill James of sabermetrics fame posted this about Mazara in the off season. Pretty bold.

I don't think the Rangers have done a great job finding consistency with catchers, but what is more striking, to me, is in a golden age of well-rounded, athletic outfielders, the Rangers have managed to find themselves in a situation where they don't really want most of their outfielders in the outfield.DallasAg 94 said:There are very few teams with consistent catching, IMO.PWestAg18 said:
It amazes me how our catcher situation has been a revolving door for the last 10 years. Some have been good, some have been bad. There's just never been a set of 3-4 years of consistency at the position.
Maybe so, I just saw this reply about being an MVP candidate from taking a step forward from 100 RBIs.TXAggie2011 said:Rossko said:That tweet surprises me since the sabermetric crowd really tends to devalue RBIs like they do with Wins.bigcat22 said:

It might be less that he likes RBIs but he thinks it will matter to MVP voting.
But I still find it strange as applied to Mazara as he had the 101 RBI but absolutely zero consideration for MVP.
I don't think "any step forward" will make him an MVP candidate. He's got to take several big steps forward.
Yea, tough to watch Smoak tear it up in Toronto the last two years, but that's a trade that was obviously worth it.free_mhayden said:
They also have struggled finding/identifying/retaining power-hitting first basemen. The one we have right now is essentially there as a product of being forced to move from 3rd.
Pretty much all development from Texas' farm has been pretty lackluster. Perez and Odor were supposed to be a couple of bright spots.
