What value does Odor bring? Horrible offensively and arguably worse defensively.

I'm about ready to stick Profar at 2B every day. Can't possibly be worse

*dumbass on the rare occasion he does get on base

With Profar you at least get a plus defender. Don't see how he could be much worse at the plate.

There's no possible way we can go through this **** with Odor for the 2nd straight year, right?

At some point someone else has to get a shot. Don't care what his contract is

I'm stuck with the Oakland broadcast -- is Grieve on the telecast tonight? Is it driving him crazy that Colon is pitching well for us?

So the 2nd inning?

Calling Colon's stuff pedestrian is being kind. If we had a + defensive team we might do OK, but I feel like any scoreless inning we get out of Colon will be a anomaly.
Pedestrian like... 6.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 4K, 1BB

So far.

Who saw that coming?!

Nope.

Doofus and Nitkowski. They're actually not bad this year in my opinion.

They bring an excitement level that is worthy of this team.

9.0 IP, 11 K, 7 H.

Tying runs in scoring position, less than 2 outs... Your #2 and your #3 hitters can't bring even one home.

Can can tout the greatness that is the Astros, but Triggs is 29, with 18 GS in MLB for his Career. Career 4.29 ERA. He and the low-budget... low-rent A's shut the Rangers down.

FWIW, They swung the bat. They were one good hit away from tying the game.

And holy crap, Colon is still an efficient pitcher.

So, what you are saying is... we were really just a single acquisition this off-season away from winning?

Chirinos: 0.000
Odor: 0.063
Rua: 0.083

I try not to get too hung up on travel games to the West coast.

FWIF... San Diego and KC are both winless.

The theme of the season will continue to be "we were just one big hit away".

As will almost always be the case when your payroll drops $30-40M (20%).

Any word yet on if we are keeping Colon on the staff? Kind of hard to cut him based on his start, but who knows how long he can keep it going.

Let's see how Hamels does tonight.

If Hamels has a bad outing, you force a 6 person rotation on him. If he does great, start shopping him.

At this point, if Perez is going to replace someone, it probably shouldn't be Colon... although I reserve the right to completely change that.

Matt Moore better fix something, or he may be spending time out with the crazy pitchers.

The fact that Banister thought all was well and good last night tells me that we have a problem. We struck out 12 times, again. I'm fairly certain we lead the league in strikeouts already. We're something like 4 for 35 with RISP this year.

Odor was supposed to have an improved approach. I think he has 1 hit. Rua has 1 hit. Chirinos has ZERO hits. These are all every day starters for us.

Odor came up with Chirinos on 3rd last night and 1 out, trying to show off his new and improved approach. Popped up on the first pitch.

I see the same exact **** that I saw from this club last year. Strikeout after strikeout, failure to produce with RISP, mediocre defense, and stupid base running (mainly from Odor). I won't include the pitching staff, since there was little hope for them to begin with. But I could go on

So much agree. Banny has started to lose me. Besides his getting in Hinch's face several years ago, he hasn't done anything to impress me and some of his moves are questionable at best.

The frustrating thing is I've seen all three of those players play well. Last year they had some weaknesses exposed, and after a whole offseason of knowing what to work on it appears they've gotten worse.

Tell me one aspect the rangers have excelled at since bannister took over? I was iffy on him when we first made the hire and he's done nothing to change that

Maybe that is just who they are.

Chirinos (33) had 349 GP in 6 seasons. 58 GP/Season. I think 2014 was the only season he was really expected to be the primary C. At 33, a Catcher is getting long in the tooth.

Rua (28) is in decline. The more ABs he gets... the more his numbers drop off. It is nut cutting time for him.

Odor...I'm holding out hope. I'm not sure what has happened to him. The whole team seems to have gone to crap hitting.

The problem has to be Iapoce. Is this a guy Banny has as "his guy?" Is this just a guy that we can afford?
His resume:

2015-2018: Rangers hitting coach
2013-2015: Cubs "Special Assistant to the GM/PD" where he didn't coach hitting, but managed the program.
2010-2012: Toronto's fill-in hitting coach
2006-2009: Marlins' A+ hitting coach.

Runs
-2017 (5)
-2016 (4)
-2015 (13)
-2014 (10)
-2013 (7)

BA
-2017 (13)

-2014 (14)
-2013 (7)

K
-2017 (2)
-2016 (11)
-2015 (7)
-2014 (9)
-2013 (14)

Wins
-2017 (78)
-2016 (95)
-2015 (88)
-2014 (67)
-2013 (91)
-2012 (93)
-2011 (96)

I think if we dug into the numbers we'd find the Rangers feasted on poor pitchers last year.

I think the general consensus was he wasn't that great a strategical manager, but he got us to the playoffs in 2015 and 2016 (best record in the league) so what he lacked in strategy he made up for in motivation.

But with a roster like this, you need motivation AND strategy to stay above 0.500.
