Are Astros fans still mad about this? Good grief, let it go.

I know of several people down in Houston right now helping out. If I know of several, that tells me that there are a crap ton of these terrible Dallas people down there helping. The Rangers are also donating millions. Get over yourselves. You're acting like entitled snowflakes.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Will reciprocate just like y'all did if the shoe is ever on the other foot. Great example!
If you guys donated $1+ mil after a disaster in Dallas we would be grateful

Having lived in both Dallas and Houston (currently in a Houston suburb), I've never understood why this part of Texas feels like they are the "true Texans". Such a bizarre argument to me. Congrats?

I would hope if we would do more than that. And accommodate any schedule switches. Even if we were better than a five hundred club. Right is right, wrong is wrong,

I'm genuinely curious now. This is not the first series to be moved due to a catastrophe or other similarly awful circumstances, can y'all find one example of teams swapping home series?

Can you find one other example of a hurricane of this magnitude?

What a stupid fuucking response to his question. No one is denying the horrific issues in the town of Houston. It's awful.

He asked if swapping a home series has happened before due to a natural disaster. I'm curious also. I really don't know.

NFL teams fly home after their away game, do they not?

Or am I wrong? I actually don't know this

Is this a football thread? The Cowboys have been pretty damn cool about this situation so your point falls flat there. Clearly talking about baseball.

Agree. Cowboys have been pure class. And this is not a Dallas-Houston thing with me. I just call a deeck move when I see a deeck move. I live in CS.

I haven't posted on the subject yet and I think both teams are responsible for this series ending up in Tampa... but I really don't understand why Rangers fans are defending this against all odds?

The fact of the mater is every organization in the country, sports related or not, immediately reached out to lend a helping hand in some way and showed compassion to the city of Houston... except the Rangers. They were given an opportunity to do what was right, they said no for the wrong reasons, and now we're in Tampa. It's really that simple.

Granted, the Rangers organization offered to provide aid to the city a couple days ago which was great and generous, but it was AFTER they started to realize they messed up and AFTER everyone else in the United States had already offered to assist.

I would honestly be a little ashamed if the Astros did that to another team under such horrible circumstances, especially if the worst result was literally just having a home series in August instead of September...

Good post, have no idea why the Rangers fans are posturing with "what, what did we do?"

Rangers are donating $1mm, the proceeds of the two step raffles for the LAA series, and 10% of revenues from the series as well as taking donations of money, food, clothing, diapers, etc for flood victims. I have no idea why Astros fans are still acting like the Rangers are villains because of the location of a few baseball games.

It's weird, because literally the entire sports world is unanimous on it being a dick move by the rangers. It was a dick move, how you cannot see that is beyond me. All the Rangers had to do is swap home series. Instead they said "Hey just play all the games here".

Reid Ryan knew exactly what he was doing by putting the Rangers in a lose-lose situation.

I think I speak for all Astros fans when I say that the city is definitely grateful for that contribution.

But it took days after the rest of the country had already pitched in to help for the Rangers to decide to offer aid and came days after the Rangers turned the Astros away at the table with the whole scheduling ordeal.

It just seems so forced and smells like they're covering their arses after the mistakes they made but maybe that's just me

So your belief is that the Rangers weren't going to do anything absent the events surround swapping the series.
Aggie8587

Not at all. Who knows what they were going to do. But why did people/teams/organizations all over the US start offering aid to Houston right when the storm hit but not our neighbors to the north?

Then the Astros come to them, obviously in need of help and with a truly viable solution, and the Rangers refuse.

THEN, two days later, the Rangers office says "wow, look at all this support Houston is receiveing from everyone across the country, including the Cowboys. We should probably do something too."

That doesn't seem a little off to you?

This is completely false.

There have been numerous tweets and at least two articles I have read by lifetime baseball people that do not agree with this, and one even said Ryan actually is the one acting like a baby. It's linked a page or two back.

There is plenty of precedent for this and the offer by the rangers is clearly fair
Quincey P. Morris

Not really,no. The Rangers were also in the middle of figuring out where this game was going to be played and the logistics there. I think you'd have to believe the Rangers were going to do nothing to find it off what they did do.
Aggie8587

I completely understand your loyalty to your team. I really do. I know if this situation was reversed there would be Astros fans defending our front office as well.

But I wouldn't be one of those people and I would disagree with those that were. The fact that only a couple of Rangers fans are realizing how this was bad form by their organization is so hard to believe. I would be embarrassed if my Astros didn't offer anything and everything to a city going through tragedy. Especially Dallas seeing as I live here.

Who were these teams offering specific donation dollar amounts on Saturday? This "days after other clubs did" doesn't make sense. These ballclub donations started getting announced Monday thru now, and the Rangers' was in that late Monday, early Tuesday timing.

If you can't be grateful for the Rangers actually doing something meaningful for victims of the storm I don't know what to tell you. This debate is clearly not about "doing the right thing" it's about Houston-Dallas dick measuring.

I get that emotions are high right now. My wife and infant are stuck in The Woodlands while I'm 1600 miles away. Moving a baseball series in September doesn't mean jack **** for her to be able to find diapers in a grocery store, or make it back home to me, or for the rest of our friends and family who got flooded out of their homes and had to be rescued by boat and helicopter.

It's a ****ing baseball series. Two teams are trying to position themselves as well as possible for the playoff race and couldn't come up with an agreement on keeping it in the state. Be grateful that something was done and quit acting like such meaningless bull**** has any bearing on the moral compass of a team, its fan base or its city.

I don't agree it's bad form either, but what does that have to do with saying that the Rangers only did what they did do to save face? Quite frankly that says to me you're so entrenched in them being the bad guy it doesn't really matter what they do, you'll find a reason it was only for selfish reasons.
Aggie8587

I don't get what you don't understand about my comments... I've said numerous times if it was the Astros it would be bad form too.

And then again, I've also said that both sides are to blame for the whole ordeal. The Astros could've handled it better without question. Just thought the city of Dallas and even the Rangers would be the ones to lead the recovery rally but that wasn't the case.

What matters most though is the sun is out in Houston, the water is receding, and the city and it's people are slowly getting back into their homes and back to their families.

You're good people Lucky, not trying to spar my man. Hope your family and friends are safe.

Spend your time worrying about something that matters. And for the record, the city of Dallas and metroplex has been fully supportive of Houston and other communities affected via donations/shelters/man power. So not sure where you're headed with that.

Seriously. These franchises are donating as much as organizations like the Texans have. The Cowboys money is good. Rangers money bad but we'll spend it anyway. All sorts of relief pouring down 45. Sad that this disagreement between two businesses over where 3 games will be played next month has skewed perspectives so much. My "defense" is not a defense. I simply think it's nuts to get upset about these 3 games.

But hey, I'm a classless sip that is trashy as **** and should probably be beaned. So what do I know.
