Did not the Astros ask to switch series? At least be honest.
Maybe I should have said, "Short of the Rangers allowing the Astros to take advantage of them, the Astros got everything they wanted, playing in Tampa."

Reid Ryan taking this public demonstrates he was anything but honest in his attempt. He so much admitted that he felt the Rangers were not as good on the road and that the Rangers were in a fight for the WC.

Never did I see anything from Ryan to indicate his concern for the Astros players, Astros fans, or people of Houston. He wanted to recapture 3 home games that he ultimately lost.

Once again he has let down the Astros fans.

If as an Astros fan you are good with Luhnow and Ryan, then good for you. I am pleased with how the Rangers Organization handled this situation. They went far above and beyond what they should have.

Let them keep talking as this is very revealing. And the entire nation is watching and reading. They just do not get it. Sad. But very entertaining and revealing,

Just wow. Even my Rangers friends agreed that the Rangers handled this very, very poorly.

I'm a fan of neither team but most Astros fans i know have no problem with the rangers not swapping since they are in the wild card hunt and it would put them at a disadvantage, they wish they would but understand why. And honestly if things were reversed i wouldn't expect the astros to swap either. I think neutral site is the only fair thing to do in this situation, its just too bad they couldnt find a closer place to play.

Oh please. What exactly is it revealing about us? You're making it sound as if we're soulless creatures who have no empathy to Houstonians whatsoever, when in reality our crime is being of the opinion that the Rangers made a reasonable decision on where to schedule a freaking baseball game.

Not that this is all that important, but all I have seen from the Rangers are the 50/50 raffle donations (which are already earmarked for charity)... How much else have they supposedly given?

Also: https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/08/28/hurricane-harvey-houston-texans-relief-donation-dallas-cowboys

And several individuals that aren't from Houston or even really that related to it have given 6 figures... Still waiting on that Rangers response.

These are truly just donations - good will and empathy for others. No donation should be expected at all. But the PR is definitely an aspect to consider.

The Rangers ownership just donated $1M to the hurricane relief effort.

And LOL at thinking they were far and beyond....

Well they did....they went far and beyond to try their hardest at getting an extra 3 home games to help their playoff hopes

You're a damn fool if you truly believe it was only the Rangers that were at fault with how this was mishandled. Both sides screwed the pooch on this.

Playing in Tampa wasn't a baseball decision?

I can see how swapping games would help the Houston Astros and their balance sheet. I have a hard time seeing how it would do much to help a devastated city.

Bottom line is that both clubs were making baseball decisions that would affect their balance sheets. What they were discussing had very little to do with helping the people of Houston.

Serious question for actual Houston Astros fans.

Would you rather have had the 3 game series occur in Arlington this week, and we donate all the funds generated to the relief efforts, in addition you can guarantee there would have been an insane amount of donations in either money, clothing, or other supplies if we had ended up having the series here.
OR
The other option is now we are randomly playing this series in Tampa Bay in front of Dirty Mike and the Boys.

Your president chose the latter, seems idiotic to me.

It's not the Rangers fault, or anybody else's, that the Astros can't meet their obligations to host these games. The Texas gulf coast got dealt a bad hand by Mother Nature. The Rangers made an offer, but not nice enough for the Astros. Could the Rangers have offered more? Sure, but they aren't obligated to make the Astros whole. Some of the Astros fans act like their organization is entitled to not be out anything, and some appear to be displacing their anger.

I wish the Rangers had done a bit more, and the donation offer today is nice. As a Texan, I'm disgusted and embarrassed by the words (encouraging physical harm to players, generalizing some other Texans in a very negative light, etc) of some of you. Seriously, I hope y'all can stay safe, and I will be donating goods, blood, and money to the cause.
