Because we are losing a home series at our home ballpark when it is all said and done and there was a reasonable solution available to prevent that from happening.
A solution that required another team to tell 60,000+ fans that already have tickets for the games in late September that their tickets are essentially no longer good (unless they want to make it out to the ballpark on less than 24 hours notice).
Which likely would have required refunds on a large % of the tickets sold as well.
So what it really came down to is Houston wanted home-field advantage in 3 games and felt Texas should screw their fans over to do so.
Texas said they'll happily donate to the cause, but they aren't screwing their fans over.
Good for Texas.
It's about homefield advantage in 3 baseball games -- shame on Houston's fans and front office for trying to frame it to be related to the well-being of the team in regards to the hurricane. They had an option to play 20 miles down the road, but opted to fly 1100 miles away just to keep that homefield advantage. That shows what their concern is.
