This is true. Public GM speak basically saying, "we're going to try to keep winning...unless a really good trade offer comes our way."
Hopefully the guy isn't an idiot, recognizes the hit the farm system took the past two years, sees some of the talent he held onto not really blossoming (Profar, Gallo), and makes some deals to restock.
The Rangers don't have to blow it up like the Astros did, but if they keep the "always trying to win" mindset, it might lead to that five years from now.
While the Yankees had some stud prospects ready for the big leagues, they still recognized that last year wasn't a year to try to win, became sellers, and landed some good talent. Daniels should take note. The Rangers might not follow it up with a season like the Yankees are having now, but it's a good long term move.m to make.
However, I'd love to see JD actually keep the "always trying to win" mindset and watch the Rangers toil in mediocrity like we did until there's no other choice but to blow it up.
