He's having much better year than the 43 year old, he's having a slightly better year than the 27 year old All Star. Y'all can laugh all you want because he sucked in Houston but he's played much better for us, and he was really highly regarded when you traded for him.

Beltran has a positive effect in the locker room and the approach some of the young guys take at the plate. I highly doubt Gomez brings those intangibles.

Ahh I didn't realize he was the first one left out last year. I thought he got that last spot. Shows how much I pay attention to the ASG.

Where did I ever say Gomez's stats will be better over the course of the season?? He's in the middle of a 2 month DL stint so there's no telling how he'll look when he gets back. Y'all were the ones ragging on CarGo so I pointed out that he's played fairly well this year.

As for the division, if I wanted to bet on that I'd go to Bovada and take the Vegas odds. Why would I spot you an 8 game lead on a straight up bet?

So if you don't think its a good bet then you're acknowledging that an overachieving Gomez and a slumping Springer have similar stats. How will we recover????

Gomez is playing right on his career average, I wouldn't call that overachieving. He didn't fit in Houston and a change of scenery did him good. Same thing happened with Ian Desmond last year turning his career around.

I'm not betting anything substantial with a rando on the internet, but I'll tell you what: when the Rangers win the Silver Boot this year you can buy my boy who's due in August his first Rangers onesie (so we can certify that he's a life long Rangers fan). If the unthinkable happens and Houston takes the Boot I'll get you (or your kid if you have one) a fresh new Astros t shirt.

He's widely regarded as one of the biggest doochbags in the league so I don't think I'd be proud of him fitting in with the "culture" of your team...

Goodness. He was "saluting" the base coaches as he went by. Didn't even acknowledge the fans. Even if he did showboat, can Blue Jay fans really complain after Bautista caused the benches to clear in Atlanta after hitting a homer while down five in the 9th?

My post was poorly worded. I was generally referring to him decking Bautista.

And as mentioned he saluted the base coaches as he went by them. Had nothing to do with the crowd.
