Arlington is on pace to win 46. No one thinks you're that bad so I'm setting the over under at 70.5 wins. Over/Under?
And Altuve and Bregman are on pace to be battling to stay above the Mendoza line.
What is your Rangers win projection?
TBH, with the team, as-is, I'd put it between 82-88 wins. Really depends, though, on what happens before the trade deadline. If Texas is more than 6 games out of the division/WC, I would expect they'll be sellers which will obviously impact that win total. Personally, I think this is going to be a long year for the Rangers and we'll be sellers. Fortunately, the Rangers have assets that will bring in very nice hauls (Yu, Lucroy, possibly Hamels alone would help restock the system quickly). So, if they're sellers, I'd expect between 78-82 wins. If they're buyers, I'd expect 88-92 wins. Even before the season, I really didn't have much in the way of expectations for the year. Winning the division against wouldn't surprise me. Finishing 4th wouldn't surprise me. It's a very balanced division, w/ no team really having the kind of deep pitching staff you would want to make a deep run. So, I came into this season more excited to see Beltre reach some big milestones and just cement his status as a 1st ballot lock. Naturally, the calf issue is frustrating in that regard.
Hard to say though. Are the first week bullpen issues just an aberration, or are they very real? If they are real, can they be fixed quickly? How long will Beltre be out? Will Gallo continue to improve, as he's looked dramatically better this year than in previous stints w/ the big club? Can Perez finally take a step forward, the kind we had long hoped for w/ Holland, and become a reliable #3?
The good news is that, even if they are sellers, it won't take a complete tear-down to rebuild. Just look at last night's lineup. 4 players (Gallo, Odor, Mazara, Profar) all 24 or younger. Odor and Mazara are already establishing themselves as legit players at this level w/ AS potential. Gallo looks much better. Profar is a big question mark. Can he finally "get it"?
***Note - I know this is a trash-talking thread so typically not a place for reasonable perspectives, but thought I'd add one anyways.
