Imagine a Springer Dinger on the first pitch. Roberts would pull him.

Tonight: JV and lance with the hammer if needed. If losing or tied, BP Joe, Gregerson, Peacock in that order.

Tomorrow: lance/Morton tandem start, Keuchel, Peacock.

I'm so hyped for this game tonight. I cannot wait!

JV -- this is what you are here for, and this is what you wanted. Make it happen!

There's a lot to consider tonight. First, let's look at Rich Hill. In the playoffs, Hill has 3 starts, averaging 4.1 innings and 72 pitches. On the season, he only pitched 7+ innings in 5 of 25 starts. He also went less than 5 innings in 5 starts. He's just not a guy that gets stretched out much.

The Dodgers bullpen is also taxed. I think we're just as likely to see Darvish or Wood in relief as we are their big guns that have been getting hit lately. I don't think we'll see Fields and McCarthy, unfortunately.

Verlander only threw 79 pitches last time out, primarily due to the heat. It will be in the 60s tonight in LA. Verlander is also coming off an extra day of rest. Only Taylor, Seager, and Turner saw Verlander three times in game two.

McCullers came back on three days rest after throwing 81 pitches for a 4-inning save against the Yankees. McCullers will be on three days rest after throwing 87 pitches in game three.

And file this one away. Luke Gregerson has only faced one batter in the WS. I think he's your likely bridge-the-gap reliever between Verlander and McCullers, if needed.

Who would have thought we'd be wanting Gregerson to be called upon to come into an elimination game?

Oh, and limit the walks. 12 of LA's 30 runs have gotten on via the walk. For the good guys, it's 4 of 28.

I want to knock hill out in less than 4 innings so bad. And it may be possible if we have patient at bats like we have since the end of Game 2, with the exception of Game 4.

This is the most important stat of the series in my opinion. Grabted a lot of those came the other night. Force them to hit the ball, solo shots dont kill you and with the temp tonight its not going to be the slugfest we saw. Just keep getting guys on and stressing the pitching staff.

Prediction: Astros 6-2

That's insane that nearly 50% of their runs we have not made them work for. Yup, attack the zone - I'd rather get beat with hits than with walks.

Not an elimination for us.

Haha, true. But it meant it in the way of eliminating them! But yes, more accurately, a CLINCHING game.

I would welcome them bringing in Darvish (likely because we potentially chased Hill early). His nasty pitch is his slider, and he only got one swing and miss with it the other night. If we take the same approach, we could jump all over Yu.

Haha. If we close it out tonight, how fitting would it be for Gregerson to play a big role in that effort with all the grief that he has taken on these Astros forums over the years?

Our historical data backs up Stuckey's analysis as 53.1% of Iassogna's games have gone 'under' the total.

It looks like this is the same umpire behind the plate for Verlander's start vs the Dodgers back in August when he was still with the Tigers.

8 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 9 SO, 1 HR, 1 BB, 112 pitches thrown, 76 strikes

Everyone talking about Gregerson being the potential best option out of the pen, but isn't his primary pitch his slider. As has been thoroughly discussed and documented, the balls in this Series have affected sliders more than any other pitch.

Does Gregerson have any other secondary pitches he could be useful with b/c we all know his fastball sucks.

Wanted to share with yall a little bit of my Game 5 experience. Lexus Field Club...very cool.

My Birthday was yesterday(AKA extra innings of the game) . I Turned 28.

28 means its the 10 year anniversary of the Astros Tattoo I got on my 18th birthday lol. Right smack dab on my ass.

After the first fly ball out to center I realized it put me on TV because all my friends and family blew my phone up. So the next time it happened, I was prepared...haha

My bad, I got the dates mixed up and the opponent. He the the home plate umpire for the 9/22 game when Verlander faced the Angels while with Houston.

His stat line from that game was:

7 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO, 0 HR, on 99 pitches (65 strikes)

Too much anxiety today.

I'll just be laughing at this picture of Morrow staring off into the abyss after Springer took his soul. One of the best moments on Sunday.

I've always wondered about how much a manager "coaches or talks to a player/team" before a game at the Major League level.

Does he sit down with Verlander and tell him....."look JV the walks have been killing us this series ..... DONT WALK ANYONE"

Do they sit down with the batters and say......"look guys we need to be patient and work this pitcher....just put the bat on the ball and put it in play"

OR do they just assume these guys already know all this stuff and keep their mouths shut?????

The slick ball thing terrifies me about gregerson. If he can't locate his slider he tends to get pummeled.

well it seats 120 people and covers all the food, desserts, peanuts, and ice cream you can eat. Full bar but you have to pay....I assume you have to rent out the entire thing. I have no idea what the standard rate is for regular season.

I know the rate for game 5 was...insane.
