who dares wins

would rather you give Lance the shot to be a legend

Lance has a history of not going too deep in games. Combine that with the fact he is on short rest and he has never started a game in short rest it is just too many question marks. You let Charlie start who threw well IMO in his start in NY and you have LMJ in the pen ready to go for hopefully two or three innings. DK in the pen also.

My dream situation is we blow it open early and let Colin M pitch several innings. He is being overlooked

in good faith

I thought they'd ride Verlander almost the full distance and he'd keep them in the game. and I thought they'd get some runs against Severino in one big inning, like Game 4.

I didn't think they'd have another inning of production. 8th inning was a welcome surprise.

still don't feel too hot about tonight. anything can happen but it feels like bad position. whatever momentum you picked back up is offset by circumstance.

pros are that you're at home, the crowd will he great at jump, and McCann and Bregman and Gattis all had something positive to take out of Game 6. maybe just maybe that Todd Frazier strikeout robbed the Yanks of some mojo.

cons are Sabathia facing Morton. Hinch managing against Girardi in a Game 7 with the remaining HOU staff vs the remaining NYY staff. outside of the 8th the bats still feel like they're in a complete shell. who knows if the 8th carries over. I doubt it. 1-2 are still a complete black hole. Judge is heating up.

and I really do think you have to pay for your mistakes in these high stakes series. Astros had a 4 run lead with nine outs to go in Game 4. that was the series. poor fielding, poor managing, poor bullpen play, just cratering under the pressure of the moment. you missed the window to close out the series on the back of one of your two aces. and you're going to pay for it. and pay more than just losing a road game. it's karma. like missing easy picks in the UCLA game. you know it's going to haunt.

I don't see a blow out, but this is shaping up to be a close loss. Damage done early, the Astros clawing to the end, but not breaking through.

unfortunately for all of us the stages of grief got reset last night. so yeah, the meltdown will be pretty bad.

but (big but) if they win against the Yanks, give me the Astros in 7 vs LA
do you give motivational speeches for a living?

We won 42-0 tonight with the clock running the whole second half so I was able to watch the 8th inning explosion on the bus ride home. Awesome stuff. Altuve's wrist flick homer felt like penance for Todd Frazier's rinky dink Yankee homer.

In Morton's last three home starts, he gave up 2, 1, and 1 runs. If he knows he's only being asked to to a few innings, maybe he'll dial it up a notch.

I dont see us blowing it open against sabathia but definitely score two or three
Morton's stuff was good last time around, he was just unlucky with all those little bloopers falling
Get 3/4 shutdown from morton and 3 more from mchugh, then bring t home with keuchel/peacock/mccullers/giles

Its going to be closer than last night, but WE GOT THIS

in the big 3 sports, normally home field means the least in MLB due to momentum equaling the next day's starting pitcher and so forth.

but in some years and some playoff series...the home team dominates / wins every game:

the 2004 NLCS
the 2001 World Series
the 1987 World Series
the 1991 World Series

and I'm sure there have been others in the last 30 years. One interesting thing...all 4 of the above playoff series featured one team that played in a domed / roofed stadium. Maybe that's the key

As hilarious as it is...at least he tried to swing instead of just looking at it down the plate

They have running clocks in Varsity play? I always wondered about that.

Ah, now that swing makes far more sense. Usually when I see such I imagine the hitter thinking "Oh no that is going to be a strike, better swing so not to look bad" only to look even more foolish than just taking the backward K.

At the discretion of the coaches. We are pretty good this year and the other team is much improved... but they came into this season on a 22 game losing streak. They won their first 4 games and have maybe 1 other game they can win on the schedule so they were wanting to just get out of the game injury free. Their coaching staff has done a tremendous job improving that team. Their coach was joking about lightning in the area before the game (there was a rain cloud or 2 but nothing remotely resembling lightning).

I feel like the bats woke up last night. The hitting coaches realized what was wrong and they fixed it.

I pray that continues tonight and the Astros jump on CC early.

We tried to get a running clock at our game on Thursday but the other coach refused, "he is trying to build his program", we were up 48-0 at the half.

Our AD atleast got it to run for incomplete passes and out of bounds

We ran into that last week. We were playing against a team that beat us last year in a fluke game which we had 4 turnovers and the referee crew was so bad that they got disbanded by the chapter after the game. We were up 47-0 at half time and he didn't want to run it either, so we kept pouring it on.

I don't think it was hitting coaches. I think it was the fact that McCann and altuve finally strung together back to back hits we played 3 runs and the entire lineup (and building) took a collective sigh of relief that we can actually get hits and score runs and everybody chill the heck out

Just getting that's first it did wonders for them. They finally started to relax after that.
