**** those *******s

Carl Edwards Jr just walked Yu Darvish with 2 outs on 4 straight balls with the bases loaded hahaha. Darvish wasn't even swinging. He was showing bunt every time.

And actually thinking about it some more that loss is really placed at the feet of Correa and Altuve for their defensive prowess against Headley. If there's only a man on third, Musgrove likely pitches to the next batter instead of Giles, it's still 4-3 when he scores and likely that would have been a force out run that would had given the Astros two outs on the inning (Headley, force out). That's much more manageable for Giles at that point and we still lead.

Everyone out the BP was giving up frozen ropes off the walls and into the gaps. Altuve and Correa are good players but there was nothing they could have done to stop the implosion.

That BP was rocked. Those weren't BABIP specials.

I'll take it...

Getting paid to watch the Astros seems pretty win/win.

As a houston sports fan I'm truly expecting us to head back to Houston down 3-2 and lose in 7. No Houston team has stepped up and done the unexpected since dream and Clyde

True but in large they haven't. We have an mvp winner imo but he can only do so much. But then again baseball is a team sport more than any of them. Altuve can't do it all.

Was at Yankee Stadium last night. Series thus far is why I was and an infinitely more worried about the Yankees than I was the Sox.

Yankees rotation and bullpen are way deeper than ours and that's showing. But what's making it worse is our lineup isn't really making the pitchers work that hard for outs right now.... Especially the Yankee bullpen. We aren't making it hard on them at all.

Absolutely need a huge Keuchel performance this afternoon.

We've scored more runs on the Yankee BP than we have their starters.

Think that's where the difference in the series is. I didn't expect their starters to quite our offense like they have. I actually liked the matchups their starters gave us and they've haven't allowed much at all.

And the more I think about it the more I think Lance should've stayed in that game last. However, I'm not sure it would've made a difference in the outcome. The ineffective BP would still be pitching in the 8th and 9th. Feel like it would've been delaying the inevitable.

Hopefully we'll be able to get to Tanaka, who can be filthy at times. Then we need to get to Severino, and then CC (if we go to game 7). All three of those pitchers pretty much silenced our bats the first time around. By the way, if we do go to a game 7, we will have to win without Dallas or JV. We almost need back-to-back CGs from our aces to take this series.

I've cooled down from my near meltdown last night.
Let's just take care of business today and set this thing up for an emotional series win at home!

I'm not a manager obviously, , but couldn't we pitch Peacock in game five, and try and squeeze one out in any, then have Kechel and Verlander in six and seven? Or is it better to have Kechel pitch game six?

This sure brings up bad memories of the bullpen meltdown against KC in 2015. But as they say in baseball, "Momentum's as good as your next day's starting pitcher". Hopefully the Astros have momentum back by tonight.

The thought process is pitch Keuchel and JV and not get to a Gm 7.

win today and last night pretty much never happened. Lose today and last night will go down in the Houston history books.

Its all about today.

i guess I am worried that if it goes to 7, who would we go with.? I guess Morton with Peacock and Mcuellars to back him up.

Gotta go Keuchel/Verlander in 5/6, simply because a game 7 is not inevitable. Can't save verlander for a game that may not be played.

You can't afford to take the chance that you lose the next two and your season ends with Verlander picking his nose on the bench waiting for a game 7 that never happens.

I expect us to hit better at home starting Friday but today will probably struggle again. Have to squeeze out a tight one today.

Someone threw out that idea last night and was called ignorant by many people here.

Me too. But your best chance of it not going there is to pitch your studs.

Play not to get there and make do if it does, but don't lay down assuming it will go to 7.

I've already accepted the fact that if it goes to Gm 7 we're in a really bad spot and gonna take a miracle to win. Not saying we can't but it's gonna take something special to do.

Ahh, got it. I just know this was talked about last night. To me you have to go with Dallas today and hope that the bats come alive. It really doesn't matter who we pitch if we can't the offense going....

Wrong.

I'd be interested in seeing the numbers.

As far as who gets credit for the runs it'll be the starters but who we've actually scored them against it's got to be the BP right?

Like last night. Gray gets the runs on his line but they were scored off Robertson.

I think we've fared pretty well against their BP in what many thought was their biggest strength.

Very unlikely to win the series if we average scoring 2 runs per game.

Great thing about baseball is there is another game coming.

Look, in game 7, I would be good $ that DK would be available in the pen.

We need to win today. I'm tired of losing. I'm tired of sports teams in this city buckling under the pressure any time they get close to winning something.

You run risk of losing in 6 and not pitching Verlander when he's perfectly ready. I understand what you're saying but do you see how moronic it could be?

Wrong.
Game 1
Starter: 6 IP, 2 R
Bullpen: 2 IP, 0 R

Game 2
Starter: 4 IP, 1 R
Bullpen: 4.1 IP, 1 R

Game 3
Starter: 6 IP, 0 R
Bullpen: 3 IP, 1 R

Game 4
Starter: 5 IP, 2 R (1 ER)
Bullpen: 4 IP, 2 R (1 ER)

Total
Starters: 21 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 1.71 ERA
Bullpen: 13.1 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 2.03 ERA

We haven't scored more runs on their BP, but we have scored at a better rate vs the BP.
