at least Hinch didn't bring in Keuchel or Verlander in relief

I'd give him an extension right now for that. I was certain he was going to use both tonight.

on the brightside...the Yankees still have to win a game at Minute Maid Park to win the series. They haven't done that yet.

likewise...the Yankees still have to win a Keuchel or Verlander start to win the series. Haven't done that yet either

Can you really not accept the fact that AJ made a terrible coaching decision tonight that ultimately cost us a game and potentially a series? Seriously what do you owe him?
Seriously, ya'll are ridiculous. But whatever, some people are just foaming at the mouth to place the blame on the skipper.

**** it. Just save DK and JV for games 6 and 7. Don't see us winning in Yankee stadium no matter who is pitching. Don't waste DK against Tanaka tomorrow. Just put Peacock out there and hope for the best.

I hate the Yankees so I really hate to see them bask in their comeback.

This loss is absolutely, without doubt, 100% on AJ Hinch. And he should be ashamed.

Yep. Signing off of this thread for the night now. Same with ESPN, etc.

Umpires were ****, but our bullpen was ****tier. You have to overcome even these inconsistent zones. Bats still made some great contact tonight and had a few bright spots. LMJ looked great, just hung the one breaking ball. Hinch needs to calm down a bit too. Defensively, we actually weren't too bad (especially BREGMAN!), just had a few head scratchers (run down play, Marwin not lining up against the wall to catch Judge's ball, etc.)...

Tomorrow is why you have an ace. Keuchel will come in and step up.

Side Note: Maybe all you ****wads that were casually talking about the World Series will learn not to tempt the baseball gods.

Right. Can't believe he brought himself in to pitch for LMJ. I knew the Astros were unorthodox but I don't know about this Manager/Pitcher role.

I bet you also dont blame Sumlin for the losses.
Come on, dude. The decisions didn't work out. No one is saying Hinch doesn't deserve blame.

However, you seem to not want to place any blame on the players either. They are still getting paid to make pitches.

Hitters are still getting paid to hit the ball. How much blame do you put on the hitters. We were gifted a bases loaded situation and Yuli came through. However, we have SUCKED with guys on base this series. If we lose the overall series, it's going to because of the offense more than it will be Hinch.

I kind of wonder if that wasn't part of Hinch's plan. Not necessarily the losing part, but pulling a last minute switch and pitching Peacock tomorrow if we won. Otherwise I can't think of any good reason why we didn't see him tonight. Devo wasn't necessarily the worst call Hinch could make at the time, but the plan all week had seemingly been LMJ/Peacock tag team.

Screaming hot take. What a terrible idea...

Also, Keuchel is not DK. DK was, is, and always will be Darryl Kyle.

Yep. Ignore the fact that no one in the that BP could get an out. No one except Gregerson.

Absolutely a abomination of a performance by that BP.

Tonight's game was an absolute crapfest. The bullpen failed miserably. The bats failed miserably. They fell apart, and the Yankees had the crowd on their side. And damn, they had a little luck again.

We knew coming to New York we'd have to steal at least one. We still have Keuchel throwing tomorrow, and it's another opportunity for the bats to wake up. Then, we have Verlander.

We've had the blowout loss and the bad bullpen game loss. It's a matter of time before luck swings back in favor of the Astros.

I'm disappointed, but the series is tied 2-2 with our two best pitchers taking the mound the next 2 games.

Breath. We still have home field advantage.

No. Dallas has been a stopper for us all year long. Tomorrow we need our stopper.

I'll be worried if we lose tomorrow. Have to win 1 in NY or we're in trouble.

Here's the ball Dallas. Let's get it.

We got to where we are at with our offense and a couple of solid starters. Every Astros fan should know that this bullpen is going to give up some runs. It doesn't matter what our bullpen does. Seven hits in two games isn't going to get it done.

I'm not venting but seriously asking.

What was the purpose of pulling a starting pitcher who was at 81 pitches and just cruising? He gave up a single solo shot...AND? If you had some shut down stopper in the pen okay I could buy that.

But can anybody tell me when the last time devinski has really looked unhittable since the all star break? Guy has been shaky for months.

Which then leads me to question 2 - if you aren't using brad peacock as a starter and he was completely filthy for most of the year (both pen and rotation), for what reason would you run out CD over peacock?

That's 3 separate issues that I feel he pushed the wrong button on. (And said so as soon as he yanked LMJ)

I agree. Jim Leyland tried this maneuver in the 2006 world series with Kenny Rogers...and that series never made it to Game 6
