It's been something I've harped on a lot lately, but Morton is elite the first time through an order, and pretty good the second, while awful the third. I have a feeling we'll see him get through 4-5 innings and then have someone like Musgrove come in for long relief.

We didn't see him in 15 or 17. Once in 16 and he pitched well against us.

Gattis & Marwin are both 1-3 with a HR off of him.

In very limited # Correa, Bregman, & Springer are 0fer off of him.

Reddick, Beltran, & McCann are the only ones with multiple games vs him. They're 2-19, 8-35, & 2-10. Not pretty.

It's just a gut feeling. Nothing statistical about my prediction.

Hopefully I'm very wrong, but I don't have a good feeling about tonight. I think Morton gets hit hard and Sabathia keeps the offense stalled.

Not nearly on the same level as Morton.

Morton:

1st time through: 57.2 IP, 11.7 K/9, 4.7 K/BB, 0.90 WHIP, 1.25 ERA, 2.20 FIP
2nd time through: 51.0 IP, 9.2 K/9, 2.9 K/BB, 1.39 WHIP, 3.71 ERA, 4.20 FIP

Sabathia:

1st time through: 57.1 IP, 7.4 K/9, 2.6 K/BB, 1.33 WHIP, 3.14 ERA, 3.82 FIP
2nd time through: 55.2 IP, 6.8 K/9, 1.8 K/BB, 1.31 WHIP, 4.20 ERA, 4.68 FIP

I want to see several well executed bunts that force that lazy fatass to have to hobble off the mound and try to make a play.

His total butthurt postgame locker room interview complaining about people bunting on him while the Astros are up 3-0 would be so sweet.

We have recently played pretty well at Yankee Stadium and Correa crushes there. I think Chuck brings it. He really impressed in his last start and think he rides that momentum. Not super confident about tonight but I like our chances.

I do however feel really good about tomorrow's game against Gray so I think if we can scratch out a win tonight then I think we finish it up tomorrow.

Another thing to note about Morton, he is noticeably better against lefties than righties this year. Which is good considering the Yankees had 3 LHB and 2 switch hitters against Verlander on Saturday. Here are the splits:

vs. LHB: 71.2 IP, 11.8 K/9, 3.9 K/BB, 0.95 WHIP, 2.64 ERA, 2.92 FIP
vs. RHB: 75.0 IP, 8.3 K/9, 2.7 K/BB, 1.43 WHIP, 4.56 ERA, 3.98 FIP

should Gattis catch?

Gattis for sure needs to bat tonight. McCann has been terrible at the plate(although I know he is gonna mash a beautiful homer at some point)

but Gattis needs to be in the lineup. If they want to play Beltran...fine. But then I would catch Gattis.

Not sure how much I trust Gattis to call a playoff game... Sit Beltran and DH Gattis.

Also looking at the weather it looks like it's gonna cool with temps in the 50s during game time and windy (15+ mph).

Balls could be flying if the wind is helping.

Just reflected on this glorious thread from the weekend. I was at both games Friday and Saturday and damn, what a WEEKEND. I did not have the pleasure of attending playoff games from the Biggio and Bagwell years and this will forever be the best weekend of Astros games I have attended.

I have no voice this morning and I couldn't be happier.

To top off the Saturday game, there was a couple sips in front of me watching their game on their phone. Snuck in a smirk and a gig em on the way out of the juice box.

GO STROS

Yeah, we certainly do not want righted handed hitting Beltran getting any at bats. It is a no brainer to DH Gattis and start McCann at catcher.

Charlie Morton's start against the Yankees this year went 5.2 innings. He gave up 4 earned runs in the 5th inning. Gardner got an RBI single and Holliday took him deep for a 3 run homer.

So let Morton pitch first 4 innings, McCullers 5th - 7th, Devo in the 8th, and Giles in to close it out in the 9th.

I went to Biggios sports bar before and after Saturday's game, it is without a doubt the nicest and coolest sports bar I have ever imagined

A couple blocks from left field, in one of the hotels, truly amazing visual experience for college football

Yeah I went for the first time to watch Saturdays game. That place is badass. The girlfriend and I both said it had a very Vegas sportsbook kind of feel. Nothing else really like that in town I dont feel like

Its the Marriott Marquis by the way.

While not a done deal, nothing wrong with expressing a little confidence with a 2-0 lead in the series especially with this team. What is worse, super confident fan or the Debbie Downers that come out of the woodwork with the least bit of adversity? IMO the angst expressed by many here when Benintendi went yard off Verlander in Game 4 in the BoSox series or the bellyaching after every AB that does not produce a positive result is far more annoying.

I like the plan but switch Musgrove to McCullers spot.

I want Lance starting game 4.

I think we probably need to go to Peacock/Musgrove if/when McCullers starts. Happy if we can get 4 or 5 from Lance. I like the idea of him starting rather than coming out of the pen. Especially if there are men on base.

I think you're gonna get your wish.

I think we've figure out that the Yankees have trouble hitting any pitch that doesn't come straight at them.

Keuchel continues to dominate them with his soft stuff that moves all over the place, Verlander dominated them with an absurd amount of nasty sliders, and Morton gets the nod with his wicked CB.

I think this staff sees Lance and his curve as a better matchup for the Yankees. A McCullers/Peacock combo may wreak havoc on these clowns.
gigemJTH12
How long do you want to ignore this user?

yep. My plan for game 4 is to run lance out there and have Peacock in the pen ready to go.

Lance could go out there and pitch 7 innings, 3 hits, no runs.

Or he could come in an be off. If thats the case let Peacock come in.

but Lances ceiling is too high and he looked good vs Boston. Give him the ball game 4 and tell him to go get us a win. I have faith in him.
