Looks like he was pointing for him to throw to DiDi.

No one was at 2B. The throw was so far off line that's where he ended up.

Regardless, that ball got there well in time to beat altuve and the bounce was not a particularly difficult one.

That's why the decision to send him was so brilliant. Catch them off guard and force an error. With Chapman, you may not get another shot. If he is out, Correa is still in scoring position.

I would add Jeff Kent's walk off 3 run bomb in the 2004 NLCS as 1c. Those were 3 of the most incredible fan experiences anyone can have.

Can we all agree that it was an absolutely terrible decision to send altuve? Obviously it worked, but 95% of the time, he's out. If there were 2 outs, I'm all for it. Definitely not with 1 though

I was OK with it, because stringing together hits off of Chapman is tough. Getting those two back-to-back was great work. Plus, there was only one out, so worst case, you've got Correa at second with another shot to do something.

I tend to fall into the "fortune favors the bold" category on this one. I totally see the flip side of it, but it's not 100% either way on "terrible" or "great" decision by Pettis.

Oh, and I must cosign on the "best MLB game I've seen live" posts. Tense, tough baseball all day.

Of course with one out he would not necessarily need a hit to get Altuve home. I wonder with first open if the Yankees would have intentionally walked Marwin to set up a force on every base instead of pulling in the infield even though Yuli has had a much better postseason so far?

I gotta say, watching some of these other postseason games make me really appreciate not only the talent that Lunhow has put together but just the type of guys we have in the locker room in general. This is a very easy team to root for with how they carry themselves. Some real d-bags on these other teams.

I had no problem with sending Altuve for the reasons mentioned.

However I think Pettis is just a poor judge of outfielders arm strength and distance of where our runners are relative to where the outfielders are.

It gets chalked up as him being "aggressive"...but I personally just don't think the guy is a very good third base coach. He's had a ton of WTF moments.

You aren't going to be a 100% but he's just had more than his fair share of head scratchers

I think the Dodgers could realistically send us to Game 7 assuming we take care of business in the ALCS. We just need to take Game 1 against Sammy Kershaw.
