Seems alright to me. Blown out of proportion a bit.
He said he was told he could pitch if it was a delay situation. Then they talked to him and he said he was good to go. Then he seemed surprised when he was told to go to the pen in a nondelay situation.
I didn't get the sense he just flat out didn't know he was gonna pitch.
