If we had more than a 1 run lead and there wasn't a delay expected I could see going for the W and throwing Verlander. but with 1 run it could easily be for nothing.

I don't like it at all.

If Verlander throws 2 innings, plus the off day tomorrow, he could still give us 2-3 out of the pen for game 5 with Dallas starting. I kind of like the move if it's only for 2ish innings and no more that 30ish pitches.

I think it depends on how long Verlander has to go. This is probably a normal bullpen session day for him anyway, so if he throws around 50 pitches, he should be fine coming back for game 5...especially if you use both he and Dallas.

Plus, if heavy rain moves in and stalls this game...we might have wasted Verlander if he can't resume.

If they throw verlander and win, Friday ALCS would be Keuchel then Saturday Verlander. Its a gamble but if we win, then it wont be that big of a deal
