Isn't it like 3 days between the end of the season and Game 1? Even if Sale pitches game 162 he almost certainly goes game 2 in the ALDS. With all the days off they could roll him on 2 and 5.
If you're the Red Sox, would you rather have Sale pitch 2 of the 5 games, or have home field for 3 games? Assuming they are mutually exclusive.

I'd definitely take Sale twice. Maybe postseason results are different, but broadly speaking, the home field advantage is pretty small.

There is enough rest time to pitch game 2 & 5 with the travel.
So there is. I'd still rather see Sale on short rest when the season is on the line.
I think we can all agree that the Astros would be better off if Chris Sale sustained an injury that kept him out of baseball for 4-6 weeks.

Yeah it'd be easier for us, but man a Verlander or Keuchel v Sale matchup at MMP is a thing of beauty.

Exactly. I'd much rather just lose the game vs Sale and blow them out for our 3 wins than have some excellent matchup for a possible 1-0 pitchers duel and come out on the wrong end.
