Obviously injuries can and may impact this, but that's a pretty good stack of pitchers. Not perfect, but your 11th and 12th pitchers aren't pitching a ton of time in a playoff series. Add Musgrove or Martes maybe, depends on who is hot at the time.

So I agree that these are our best guys that you posted. Here's the problem:
Keuchel - coming off 2nd DL stint
McCullers - on 2nd DL stint
McHugh - Pitching his second game soon from being on the DL all season
Morton - 1 DL stint this year
Peacock - surprisingly been solid
Fiers - been decent, but do you trust him with the game on the line?
Harris - currently on DL
Devo - major bright spot
Liriano (I guess) - "I guess" is spot on
Gregerson - nicknamed "gregersuck" for a reason
Giles - Decent closer, but not elite
We all know the issues, but this is what we've got to work with.

I fully believe Lunhow is looking at this as a 4-5 year "window" and not one year. He either thinks that he can use the same assets he could have traded today to get something better in the offseason or next season...... or he sees these guys as assets to playoff teams in the next two to three years.
I know nothing is guaranteed, but if you told me that the Astros had a top 2 AL team for each of the next 5 years, I would take that over trading our best young players for 2 years of being the favorite for the WS. Baseball is just different - you want as many shots at the postseason as you can get. I'm good with standing still today if the asking value was too high.

I was listening to the radio broadcast yesterday and they interviewed Jim Crane. He said they had several deals on their desk yesterday and approved at the GM level but they got killed by ownership of the trade partners. I don't know if that's been covered here but I thought it was interesting, they weren't just sitting on their hands.
I'd be curious to see how many Bama folks call for Nick Saban's head throughout the season. I'd guess it's not a small number.

While there may be some people like that in all fan-bases, I just don't get it. You have to enjoy the wins, enjoy the good times, otherwise what's the point?
If a win is a meh feeling, but a loss or lack of a trade is a world-ender for you, maybe a new hobby might be more enjoyable.
