I'm just some guy, but if I had a vote, I'd say that you all have exactly 24 hours from 3pm today to get the **** over it.
An All-Star CF returns to the lineup on Friday. His backup is someone who's been contributing and we're all excited about. An MVP candidate returns the following month. His backup should have made the All Star team as well and is about to slide into the Top 10 in a number of categories when he meets the AB requirements. Yuli. Reddick. McCann. Bregman. Jake from Rake Farm. Oh, and that little short guy who might be the best hitter in the game. One of the best offenses that any of us have ever seen. Have you forgotten the team with the most runs scored in the league? The 7+ runs scored per game on the road? The 19 put up on Toronto? The abuse of the entire Twins bullpen? Putting up 8 in the first two innings and ruining Derek Jeter night? George's walkoff in the 13th? Marwin's grand slam?
Mark it - Keuchel and McHugh return to form this week. Peacock and Fiers have helped this team more than we could have ever imagined. Morton is no slouch. With a little more rest, McCullers could very well be ready to go full blast by the time it counts. We just added an experienced lefty to the pen, so no more Sipp. We've got Devo. Kenneth. Martes. Musgrove. Strikeout machines. I expect them all to (continue to) step up when the time comes.
We're 32 games over .500, and the hard part of the regular season is over. We don't face another good team until the 22nd. Three games at home against the Nats and then right back to playing against scrubs. We've got six games TOTAL against good teams the rest of the regular season. Get some wins, get healthy, and get back in a groove for the postseason. It's taken multiple injuries to slow this machine. Let it play out.
The season has been damn fun to watch. It's still fun to watch. I wanted to make a splash today before the deadline just as badly as the rest of you did, but it didn't happen. Oh well. We didn't get worse today. A number of teams got better, but we didn't get worse. You guys are worrying about stuff that hasn't happened yet like a bunch of ****ing nancies. Let's cross that bridge in October.
Some of you will find it necessary to poke holes in my post, our lineup, our management, and any shred of a positive outlook. That's fine - go right ahead. Just don't expect to stand next to me at the parade when we win the whole damn thing. The thread has gone downhill for a few weeks now with all this trade deadline crap. Now we can just get back to watching baseball. You can hop off the train if you like, but the rest of us are moving on.
We've got another game in three hours. If you're that pissed off, don't watch. But all of you better shake that **** off before Twitter Tuesday. Crush City. Let's do this.
