After noticing one of his bat throws last week, it's all I can see now when he is at the plate.
Agree with Gardner.... don't like it when the home plate umpire makes a call on a close check swing like that.

I think the more days of rest between throwing sessions results in you being able to throw more innings. The bullpen guys don't get time to fully heal so they can't throw as many innings. Odds of injury increase if you push it too far.

That being said, if you can't see the reason some people become relievers and some don't I can't help you. Some people can throw 98 for aninning but if they had to pace themselves over 6, it'd be 91/92 and they would lose effectiveness. They don't get 4-5 days off. Some people don't have a third pitch and can't fool hitters but once through the lineup at most. Some people haven't thrown starter innings in 10 years.. They could try and then hurt themselves.
I think we are finally see Gurriel do what he can.
He'll always be streaky because he relies very little on the walk, but he's still not even accumulated a full season's worth of plate appearances in the MLB. He's a 32 year old with a rookie like adjustment taking place. Love his ability to barrel up the ball though.
