The trading partners are in the national league those playoffs are mostly set. Everyone in the AL is still in the hunt.

Technically yes as far GB are concerned. Hell the As who have the worst record in the AL are only 4.5 out of a WC. CIN who's record is one game worse is 13.5 GB from their WC.

However, based on the number of teams in front them a handful of AL teams are out of it.

Thats because in the AL, with the exception of Houston, NYY, Boston and Cleveland everyone is is basically the same steaming pile of poo. Which means they will all hang on to the end hoping against hope and as a result none of them will really get a chance to improve for the future.
