Plus... what Drayton did with these guys...

Granted, they are not world beaters, but Dietrich would sure be nice to have as a trade piece or just a reserve outfielder.

Listening to Berkman on 790 this morning..

If you need more reasons to hate Drayton, apparently Pettite wanted nothing more than a 2nd year on the deal we were offering him (1 yr, 8 mil). He would have signed 2 yrs @ 16 mil and turned down the 3 yr 36 mil offer from the Yankees. We wouldn't budge.

What a **** show.
Yeah I'm suprised Michael Connor didn't go on a rant right after Berkman mentioned this.

Oh and then we went and signed old man Woody Williams at 2 for 12.5 mil and traded Willy T the next year for Jason Jennings who sucked while Willy T was heading the top of the order for the WS appearing Rockies.

This year's Astros feel like Aggie football all over again for me. We had an awesome offense and a ****ty defense during the first few years of Sumlin's reign; we go out and get the Chief and have an amazing defense and forget how to freaking move the ball down the field.

Same with this year's Astros. Went out and bought Bats galore, and nobody can freaking hit save for Marwin.

Good gosh, we are 7 games into. 162 game season, not even 5% into the season and you have already written the narrative. Fans like you are just awful and really don't understand baseball.

I don't know what Aggie football team you watched. Our defense was far from amazing.....

Yes and it was pathetic, this isn't a 12 game season, there is really nothing that can be drawn out of 25 AB's. in addition, you can't give Keuchel the Cy Young after two game with McCullers finishing second. Let's evaluate this team after the first quarter of the season, that would be a better indicator.

So with the Masters going on last weekend the Stros took a bit of a backseat. I was switching back and forth yesterday and keeping up with scores but didn't watch too much.

Also with the amount of cliff jumping and downright absurdness going on in this thread I figured a weekend away from the keyboard wouldn't be such a bad thing.

I know it sounds odd, but hopefully being on the road and away from MMP may settle these guys down a bit and get the offense rolling. I'm pretty confident guys like Altuve, Correa, Bregman, and Beltran will get going. As for the BP I don't know what to think. Gregerson went from being nails to imploding which is really hard to predict. At least for guys like Sipp and Gustave they've been pretty consistently sucky so we know to avoid them.

At least the first trip through the rotation went better than expected. Anyone heard anything on McHugh after being examined last week? It'll be interesting to hear his prognosis and how that will play into our approach as far as trades.

Was actually thinking the same thing, for some reason I think being on the road might help get the bats going a little bit.

McHugh is out 6 weeks I believe.

Wait, you thought our last two Aggie defenses were "amazing"?
Question. How do you expect a defense to play lights out when their offense goes 3 & out every series so by halftime the defense has played a full games worth of snaps?

It's not absurd to think the road calms us down and may spark the bats. Altuve was much better on the road and we have historically launched the ball in Safeco for whatever reason.

That being said, **** the MLB scheduling office. 7 straight days with games, then travel two time zones and across the country, just to play a 2:00 p.m. local time game. Just absolutely ridiculous scheduling. I'll be very impressed if we come out and don't look lethargic today.

Jesus H Christ you just made me give missey a star you son of a *****. Gonzo is hitting well but so are Springer and Gattis. Altuve, Correa, and Bregman are slumping but will be fine.

The fact that we grabbed 4 out of 7 with three of our best hitters having slow starts is a very good sign.

Gregerson and Giles need to be more consistent. Sipp has put together long stretches of good innings in the past but that seems to be forever ago now. Gustave probably just sucks.

Starting pitching and Devenski have been nails so far. Hopefully it keeps up.

I think Altuve is out of his slump. He hit through the shift twice yesterday, and two of his outs on Saturday were hard hit balls right to the defense.

Speaking of, that was refreshing to see us take advantage of the shift for once.

It is almost like a second opening day for all of the teams that have not had a home opener yet. Seattle falls in that category.

We know, but Hinch doesn't.

That's my concern. I think hinch does a lot of good things and has been good for the young guys. However I think we all know he is going to keep trotting Sipp out there because he throws "left" handed and hinch is going to have his face stuck in analytical data from 8 seasons ago when Robinson Cano went 1-13 against Sipp and we need to play the percentages.

Sipp has been terrible against everyone for the last 15 months of baseball he has played. I don't need analytical data to show me that he not only doesn't need to be pitching but also doesn't need to be on the roster. AJ has zero feel for a game and how the game is progressing at this CURRENT moment and instead relies on past data solely.

Same could be said for lineup moves.
