Hamels has been total garbage today.

This is not a playoff team. No way. No how. The definition of mediocre.

Just saw this thread.... thought they were playing a night game tonight. Guess I haven't missed much apparently.

Hopefully Beltre can do something here with runners on base.

Beltre plates one on a ground out, but Gomez strikes out to end the inning. Not looking good, games in Oakland are always difficult for some reason for the Rangers.

Ever since that 17 run game this line up has been brutal with men on base

.500 teams gonna .500. They will put together a stretch that make it appear like they're capable of more, but it's never long until they remind you why they've been around .500 for 5 months

I'm guessing at this point Astros will play in Arlington this week and rangers will go to Houston in September.

Are you saying they would move the scheduled games in Arlington to Houston? If so, that would never happen especially since there is physical need to.

Do you realize the financial impact that would have? Millions of dollars. Not to mention the thousands of people who already have tickets to those games. The number of people who have suites for those games. Are we supposed to just call them and say "Hey, we decided to be nice to the Astros and move our games down there since they came up here. I know you have suite or whatever, but sorry bout cha."

If there is an extended issue, I'd be curious about them working something out with Round Rock.

well you know better than me..... I was wondering if they would swap series. (And I'd like to see the math on "millions" of dollars in lost revenue - but I digress)

Just don't see anyway they are playing in Houston on Tuesday, or at all this week for that matter.

I guess millions of dollars in lost revenue for the Astros will pale in comparison to the billions of dollars The City of Houston is losing as we speak.

Say, 22,000 for a Monday game (Last Seattle attendance on Monday at home)... 3 Games... $35/ticket?

Attendance: 22K X 3 X 35 = $2.3M
Parking: Say, 3 per car, 7K cars at (what is parking now, $15? $20? - 7K X $15=> $105K

Beer: $10 beer X say 20K beer X 3 games => $600K.

So, that's about $3M. You lose 30% of that, and you lose $1M.

Now for the expensive suites, which lose even more. When I worked for a company that had a Suite, I would have access to request. If nobody requested 3 days out, as the game neared, they'd allow you to request it. We did that 15 times in like 2007?

126 Suites X say 20 people/per X $200 per person... That's $504K, not including expensive food. Times 3 Games... if you lose 50%, That's $756K.

It all adds up.

But some of that comes back in the three games that are played here that weren't supposed to be.

I don't deny money would be lost. It's a horrible situation.

Royals (-1.5): Losing 12-0 @ Cle (B3)

That's why I projected that they'd lose 50% of Suite monies and 30% of game monies.

If the series is played here next week, I would guess there will be almost nobody there for each of the games. No STHs already have tickets. We'd have to start running a promotion now to sell tickets

To add to this, I actually wouldn't be surprised if we ran a promotion where we actually send proceeds back to Houston for relief

I was wondering if that might happen - have both series here but proceeds from the first series goes to Houston, as well as some other "drives" so to speak to benefit the city of Houston.

Round Rock already has home games scheduled for 8/29-8/31, which is when the three Rangers-Astro games are scheduled to be played in Houston. So moving to RR doesn't seem to be an option for those games.

Easier to boot minor league games to the opponent town tho.

That said, I think if next week is somewhere other than houston, it will be Arlington. If games beyond that are an issue, that's when i think RR could be in play

So much for that Angels series.

Oakland is tearing this team a new one.
