He's the best player you'll see in your lifetime. Sit back and enjoy it.
Sorry Mr. ESPN, he's pretty good, but looked pretty meh tonight. I'd back off on that "best player" hype.

I couldn't stay up for the game, but woke in the middle of the night and checked the W.

Missed most of the game. What did I miss on Betre's HR that we needed a CF camera?

I think Leclerc really wants to believe, but he isn't there either. I'm hoping this taste of the Bigs will get him mentally prepared going into next season.

Brocail was on the radio pre-game. You gain some confidence in what he knows, hearing him analyze pitchers. Talking about their stride, confidence. Said they have been working on some things with Ross, but that recovery just takes time. He said he doesn't have the confidence to take the stride he needs to, every time and when he shrotens it, he gets in trouble. He said, "These things just take time."

When asked if the Rangers can afford to keep running Ross out there, he basically said, that is above his pay grade. He hoped they could continue to work with Ross, but he just needed more time.

He talked about Gardewine. He said Gardewine should him what he needed to know. Basically what he is capable of doing. He made it sound like a Spring Training outing. He made it sound like they wanted Gardewine to throw certain pitches and locations, so they would know what he has, how he responds and what they can do regarding strengths and weaknesses physically and mentally.

Oh... and Brocail sounded like an analyst, and not a guy who would go out to the mound and affect an outcome.

Seemed more like a visit would be something like, "You know we're working on the <insert something like foot plant\arm slot\pitch selection>, let's see positive results and we'll talk about it after the game."

Where as, Wash would visit Holland and you could see him verbally chewing out Holland. Holland after the game would say, "He got his point across. I don't know that I can repeat what he said."

Lasorda once told a pitcher something to the affect that if he didn't blow a pitch past the hitter and strike the guy out, he was walking back to the hotel. The guy struck him out.

When a guy walks the lead-off hitter with a 3 run lead, you don't want Billy Beane or Warren Buffet going out there to talk about leading indicators and obscure stats. You need a visit to the principal's office.

Got on base twice, gunned down the go ahead run. Not bad for an off night.

19-year old CF in rookie league. 6'5", fast, raw power. Considered to have high bust potential, but also star potential.
I'd be okay if he's a cross between Darryl Strawberry, Eric Davis, and Josh Hamilton.

Must have happened after I went to bed because all I saw was 0 for 2 or 3, and remember thinking that two of the best players (Trout and Andrus) were both struggling a bit at the plate.

It's not "hype" when he absolutely is the best player in the game. It's really not even close. Harper is a great one, but Trout is on pace to be talked about w/ names such as Mays, Ruth, Mantle, etc.

Yeah Trout is far and away the best player in the MLB. The Angels' front office is going to screw up his prime with a bad farm system and huge contracts owed to over the hill players.

What's crazy is it feels like he's already been around forever, but is still only 25. Just an unbelievable all around player.

While it sucks to have him at a division opponent, I'm happy the Angels have mostly screwed up his window so far. I'm also happy that his salary is about to skyrocket to $33 million per year beginning next year (2018-2019) vs. the bargain that he's been.

And how is this for role reversal last night....

Dave Raymond -- the guy who is supposed to be the yin to the Tom Grieve-old-school-baseball-yang -- brings up for the 703rd time this series that Pujols is still a very valuable player this year, what with his 79 RBIs... Nevermind that $ per production he is I imagine by far the worst guy in the league.

And then Tom Grieve talks about how it might make sense for the Rangers to bring Claudio before the 9th inning because it might be a higher leverage situation and/or who knows if the score will still be close in the 9th so might as well use your best reliever when needed.

MY WHOLE WORLD HAS BEEN FLIPPED UPSIDE DOWN.

The crazy thing about Trout is that he missed 7 weeks, and still may win the MVP. This is arguably his best season so far. .330/.457/.670 w/ an OPS+ of 200. Five top-2 MVP finishes in 5 seasons. He's just other-worldly.

He's tied all-time in WAR w/ Vada Pinson after 5+ seasons. Pinson played 18 very solid seasons, finishing w/ over 2,700 hits.

I don't love watching him when he's playing the Rangers, but he is bar none the best player in the MLB and essentially has been since he started as a freaking 19 year old or whatever.

New ballpark name is Globe Life Field and they extended the partnership through 2048. That name is even worse than Globe Life Park.

7 weeks X 7 Days = almost 50 Days. What is the suspension penalty for PEDs and Adderral?

I'd take Matt Purke over Trout anyday... everyday!

Here is my question... How do so many scouts miss out on a guy who is drafted... and within 2.5 years starts his first full season and goes .326, 30 HR & 49 SB?! A .399 OBP and an OPS of .963. #2 in MVP votes.

25th Pick!

I'll always think of it as the BPiA, but if some insurance company wants to boost our payroll by $40mm/yr then they can call it whatever the hell they want.

Yep. Purely a business. That sponsorship alone is worth $1.1 billion

If they're paying $40 million a year you take it and run before they realize how much money they're wasting on your stadium's name...

Dodgers hoping to get $12 million a year. Cowboys got $17-19 million a year. Mets get $21 million from Citi.
